Who called him a bust? Melrose?

Melrose said something along the lines of Stamkos wasn't ready for the NHL as a rookie. Stamkos almost instantly started to produce once Melrose was fired. Melrose was horrible in Tampa.

Congrats to Stamkos.

Damn that was fast, hard to believe he's already played over 400 games.

Harder to believe he still has close to a decade of "prime" years left. I feel like he's been 24 for the last four years, every time I go to check his age I expect 27-28.

Potential to go down as the greatest goal scorer of his generation.

Congrats Stammer time. He made prob 230 of those goals look gorgeous in the process.

Congrats Stammer!

It was a pretty nice goal, he just makes it look so easy, and good job by Callahan on getting the puck to him:

Great job by one of the best goal scorers in the league. Maybe even the best.

Great achievement.

Definitely the best goalscorer in the league for me, closely followed by Ovie. Stammer is able to score more without relying on an instant shoot on sight philosophy - can't argue with his %s

Stamkos' career average S% is 17,5 and it's 1,7% higher than anybody else(heavy shooters over 3,0 s/g) since first lock out. It's safe to say that Stamkos has top-5 shot of all time

Meanwhile Zach Parise just got #250 about a week ago. He is 30 and has scored 30+ goals 5 times and 40+ 1 time. That just shows how incredible Stamkos is.

At the age of 24 years, 305 days, Stamkos became the 10th-youngest player to score his 250th career goal, beating Jaromir Jagr by seven days to make the top 10.

Current Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman was the sixth-youngest to reach the 250-goal mark at 24 years, 222 days while with Detroit. Wayne Gretzky is the youngest at 22 years, 28 days.

Others on the list include Mario Lemieux, Dale Hawerchuck, Alex Ovechkin, Pierre Turgeon, Jimmy Carson, Mike Bossy and Michel Goulet.
In addition, Stamkos reached the 250-goal mark in his 439th career game, the sixth-fastest player to reach the mark since the 1989-90 season behind Ovechkin (366 games), Teemu Selanne (388), Eric Lindros (406), Pavel Bure (422) and Alexander Mogilny (428).
