Steve Wilkos Charged With Drunken Driving in Darien

Talk show host Steve Wilkos has been charged with operating under the influence in Darien after a crash in January and police said his blood alcohol content level was more than three times the legal limit.
Wilkos was the bouncer on the Jerry Springer Show and hosts his own show, which is filed at NBC’s studios in Stamford.
Police said an officer who was on patrol responded to a one-car crash on West Avenue, in the area of Turnabout Lane in Darien, at 4:20 p.m. on Jan. 21 and identified 53-year-old Steven Wilkos, of Darien, as the only person in the car.
Because of the severity of his injuries, crews took Wilkos to Stamford Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Famous people getting into trouble is nothing new, but this former police officer and somebody who comes off a morally superior in his talk show should have known better. Steve Wilkos even admitted to lying about what happened.

Steve Wilkos just confessed to TMZ, he lied when he told us the horrific car crash in which he was involved last month was the result of him being distracted as he reached for his glasses ... he was actually under the influence of alcohol.

Most of the officers I know are the biggest offenders because they can get away with it. Hell, the police chief in my town ran into a parked car while drunk and he didn't even lose his job.

This is a dose of irony for Wilkos... He has such a superiority complex always looking down his nose at the people he has on his show. I try not to find joy in the misfortune of others, but this is certainly entertaining, to say the least.
 
Steve Wilkos Asks Judge for Break in DUI Case

Steve Wilkos asked the judge for some leniency in his first court appearance since he was charged with DUI.
Wilkos -- flanked by his wife, Rachelle -- showed up to court Monday in Darien, Conn. and his lawyer asked the judge to place him in a diversion program ... if the judge signs off and Wilkos completes the program, his charges get dropped.

Everyone who's been convicted of a DUI without being allowed to take part in this program should be up in arms if Wilkos gets any leniency.

I personally hope he doesn't get off on this one. The guy comes across as a massive jerk.
