Thanks for the information. These statistics definately expose the U.S. team's problems in this tournament (a woeful shooting percentage and lack of clutch penalty killing).

Many of these are a bit flattering for the Swedes. Good thing there is no "owned on a breakaway" stat.

how is it that nabokov has played 3 games with only 1ga and has no shutouts

nm, i just noticed hes only played 160 minutes so maybe that has something to do with it

Yeah, he was pulled after the second period in the game against Latvia.

mvprimate, Nabokov should have credit for 5-0 shutout of Sweden and 1-0 shutout of Kazakhstan, so I do not understand why the official IIHF stats do not have him listed with 2 shutouts. He definitely was in net for both games. He only allowed one goal in 40:00 of play against Latvia.

Perhaps the IIHF and IOC are having some difficulties with keeping track of the statistics? These stats come directly from the official Torino website. I also do not see player ice times listed even though the IIHF was testing their scoring system several months before the Olympics during the Euro Challenge games which was to show the players ice times listed on the official Olympic scoresheets.

I do not know what is happening with this current scoring system. It is confusing to say the least.

The NHL doesn't credit a goalie with a shutout if he doesn't play the whole game, perhaps the IIHF is the same.

Nabokov was originally listed with 2 shutouts in the official Olympic stats report after each team had played 3 games. And now the official Olympic statistics have listed him with zero shutouts. It doesn't make any sense. This system of official record keeping by the IIHF and IOC is terrible! The official stats list only credits shutouts to Niittymaki with 2, Norrena 1 and Gerber with 1. No mention of Nabokov's 2 shutouts in the current official report.

Here is the proof below in the links:

Sweden had a insane faceoff game against Latvia. At one time we won 82% of the faceoffs, I think it was in the 3rd. Don't know what the stats where at the end of the game but it must have been close to a record.

wow top 10 scoring, top 12 goals, and not one North American on the list.
