I see no problem with Donaldson being picked. I picked Goldy for similar reasons (Though Goldy is younger). Both teams have ownerships with deep pockets and who are willing to win now. While Arenado, Bryant, and Machado are all great players, as of right now, Donaldson gives you the best chance to win a world series in the short term.

Yep, XB was one of the guys I was debating on where I took Seager. Strong pick.

There are still a bunch of good young guys that I have on my list but it is definitely shortening. Can't really say anyone has made a"bad pick" yet. When you take into account the franchise and ownership as well I wouldn't say there's been anything really out of left field.

Yeah, and the thing is that unlike the Donaldson pick a lot of them are trusting that these young, budding stars will actually become all-star and MVP quality for the long term. Otherwise passing up guys like Donaldson and co. who are already top end producers and MVP type players (though for a shorter potential timeframe) is a big mistake.

Though I guess gambling on potential and control versus the next 3 or so years is really what we're going to be looking at when we reflect on this draft say in 5 years or so.

Houston Astros select - SP, Noah Syndergaard

Doesn't have the innings but the stuff is unhittable.

Well, I'm happy for Cincinnati. I have no idea why I thought he'd fall to me with the LA pick. Great pick.

I was back and forth on Sale and Noah. Sale is obviously more proven but Noah is only 23.
Syndergaard has the best stuff in the MLB. That 4seamer, change, curve, slider and now cutter. The kid is incredible.

I had Syndergaard behind Kershaw and maybe one other. Hard to argue with what he has to offer though.

Skill wise, yes, but I love the controllable nature. Kershaw is my only real arguable one just because of how good he is.
