Florida is a much better matchup than Boston for the leaves. I’m not saying Florida can’t win but it’s a bad matchup.

Toronto definitely the best team still standing. If the goaltending holds it’ll be Toronto’s to lose

I feel somewhat vindicated in that all season, I felt like Boston was a bit of a mirage. You looked at their record, then you looked at their roster and you thought, "really?"

I think a significant part of this was Ullmark. He was on a ridiculous heater all year, posting a gaudy save percentage of somewhere around .944, IIRC. That was both unsustainable and far above his career average, and he was overdue for a return to earth. Well, he just landed with a thud. There were other elements, including Bergeron's injury, Lindholm's disappearing act, etc., but Ullmark turning into a pumpkin was a big part of it.

You don't "mirage" your way to 65 wins.

I mean obviously they played their hearts out and I give them all the props in the world for this amazing comeback against Boston.
I think they're pretty solid though. They lost a lot from last year, but maybe finally the pieces they acquired are starting to gel at a dangerous time.

Will be extremely interested to watch round 2.

Boston has no first rounders for the next 2 years, no 2nd rounders for the next 3 years, they just extended Pasta long term, and if Bergeron and Krejci don't come back on severe discounts, they're beyond screwed lol
Pastrnak is worth every penny.... he's only 26. They have a great core.... They are gonna continue to be good with or without Bergeron and Krejci. McAvoy is a top 5 d man. Carlo, Lindholm, gryz, Debrusk all young. Solid goaltending. I don't think they're in that bad of shape.

To be fair any team will regress after the season Boston just had. However Boston does look like a playoff team for the foreseeable future with their core and leadership. I think Bergeron has one more season in him too.

Atlantic is going to be tough. I don't think Tampa is just gonna lay down and let us get in either. Then you also have Buffalo showing a lot of promise with us. Florida is that annoying team that can be unstoppable when hot. Toronto I see being good next year and then cooling off.

Only teams I am comfortable saying the sens are better than is Detroit and MTL. Who the sens were above this year anyways.

Could see the Altantic sending 5 playoff teams next year tbh.

Toronto
Boston
Tampa

Ottawa/Buffalo/Florida will fight for 2 wild cards.

Always nice to see Presidents` Trophy winner and Stanley Cup champion upset in round 1 on the same day.
I don’t like it. Makes the regular season success just a big waste of time. I think they need to implement a play-in tourney and give the top teams a bit more of a leg-up, the current format with more parity is a bit flawed
