Congrats to the Leafs. They were better in the big moments which is the hardest thing to learn and even harder to do as a team - well earned.

Happy for Tavares. He’s been a good C and has taken some shit - so good to see the right guy do it.

Matthews is possessed. He’s maybe the best player at reading the game in the NHL right now. He reminds me of Messi in the WC - isn’t always there but is there when you need him most and produces. Stud. Caught myself thinking “would like to see Timmy play hockey like Matthews” Very impressed with everything he does. Even his interviews are smooth as a smoothie.

The only good thing that comes out of the Leafs winning the Cup (from what I have seen this playoffs they are the best team of the 16) is RR is going to have a genuine David vs Goliath story on his hands with the pretty boys of Toronto (they are a pretty team - Morgan Reilly is easily their ugliest player and even he’s a solid 6.5, their GM is a 9 and their assistant GM is a 10) vs Monster Cookie look alike Brady Thakchuk and a bunch of nobodies from Ottawa.

It's odd to watch the state of goaltending now after being spoiled as a kid with Hasek, Roy, and Brodeur at the same time
I remember reading an article, many moons ago, about what happened the great french hockey player. No more LaFleur etc. He changed positions....because of Roy and Brodeur the best players wanted to be goalies. Maybe the best players want to be Crosby, McDavid etc now? It would take an all world goalie that performs that way for a long time to get the kids to want be a goalie. An interesting thought. The same is happening in baseball...where are the great african american players? The thought is they changed sports. Much quicker path to the top league in football and basketball.

I've been here too long, I can't leave now.

Our rivalry with them is ancient history. The Habs hate at least feels fresh.

I don’t see why people are on your case for that. There was plenty of posters rooting for the Habs during their way to the finals just 2 years ago. They are as much Sens rivals as the Leafs

Me too, I don’t really mind that they won. I want the Oilers to win the cup this year

The only annoyance will be some of their fans in the polls section but I don’t even have time to go these days so who cares

Ya good call, I do remember a fair amount of Habs cheerleading here and they should be just as high, if not higher from more recent history, on the hated rival list if we're letting that dictate our choices of who to root for.

I just couldn't sustain it I guess. The Leafs failed so long it feels like I got my kicks out of it and it got to the point I actually felt bad for them and thought, lets just get this over with.

Quite a few prolific leaf fans really pretending hard like they weren't saying the series was over after game 1.

There's no way we hear there was no push back from the Lightning.
They've had a great run and have been a fun team to watch.
No way they are not a playoff team next year again, imo. Core is still good and signed.
Kucherov
Point
Stamkos
Cirelli
Hedman
Sergachev
Cernak
Vasilevsky

------------------

Swayman starts for the Bruins. Hard to argue with that decision after the last 2 games.
Panthers in position to pull off a HUGE upset.

Yes, its more their fans versus the Leaf team/players that has always irked me.
This is interesting to me. Fans of opposing teams always annoy me, they're cheering against my team, so they're all the same.

It was always the players that were the evil figure to me. Guys like Tie Domi and Darcy Tucker were enough to make my blood boil and wish serious ill upon them during the high emotion times.

The worst part of this Leafs victory is all the reminders I'm seeing of that last crushing loss against them. God damn Lalime.

Oh, I didn't like all of their players either, but I think their fans were the greater annoyance. I had some additional personal experiences that added some fire to that dislike. I was once in a fantasy league many years ago (I haven't bothered for years), but the Leaf fans were the hands down the most obnoxious and classless of a wide group consisting of fans from many different teams living in many different cities.

I grew up as both a Leaf fan and Habs fan. My father was born near Toronto, while I had a cousin who played in the NHL eventually but was in Montreal organization (farm teams) for most of his professional career. When Ottawa first formed their team (I lived in Ottawa at that time), I instantly became an Ottawa Senators fan and was happy to do so.

And those battle of Ontario playoff series had the same impact on me - almost forgot to mention that.

I think they like playing with bigger balls!

I know you don't live in Ottawa(not sure if you ever did), but surely you can put yourself in the shoes of local fans who often have to deal with meathead Leafs fans?

They really are a special breed of assholes.

Ya my neck of the woods up in the Yukon has me noticing irritating Habs fans more than any other team.

Been to Ottawa a few times and one was a 5-4 Leafs OT win after we were up 4-0. Now THAT was insufferable with all the Leafs fans on the bus after.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but didn't Florida split their 4 games against the Bruins this year?
(Or maybe even won 3 of the 4?)

That’s a Tuesday in the office here. I don’t think you can appreciate the amount of dickhead leaf fans in Ottawa unless you live here.
