I meant we've actually played games that mattered against them in recent history unlike the Leafs.

I don't live in Ottawa, so I'm sitting on my couch when I'm watching. Probably why my hate is more about disliking the opposing team than the fans. It wasn't the fans I hated, it was Tie Domi, Darcy Tucker, Bryan McCabe, etc.

I'm saying if you want to fawn over the Leafs take it to their board. What sort of engagement do you expect here?

Nobody here wants to hear a bleeding heart for the Leafs, regardless of your rationale.

Damn. Thought the leafs physically could not win 4 of the first 7 games starting after the end of the regular season. Like it was simply impossible. That’s what I was told anyway.

Leafs were clearly outplayed by my estimate.

Hard to imagine it was goaltending that was really the difference.

Should have been 3-1 Tampa going back to Toronto for game 5.

I think for me it came more through their fans than their players. . Not that I liked them but I never disliked them individually.. I disliked them all equally because they were leafs. But I can respect the players and their roles and what they do to win. The media didn't help. Harry Neil and company. Also felt a fair amount of disappointment with the Sens not being able to take them out.

I expected about the engagement I got and am happy to leave it there. I've seen others here say the same over the last week or so and didn't seem like a big deal, but it is fresh, so fair enough.

For me, it's F Tbay and their spoiled ass franchise. I'm happy to see them lose like I would be with any returning multiple cup winners that already had their cake a few times.
 
It’s the national broadcast for me when we play that helps keep the flames lit.

Insufferable homerism, and I personally don’t like any of their stars.

Throw in the historic repeated defeats, and the fact that it’s always a battle of Ontario, and we’re primed to be rivals for all time.

Some times it will run hot, and sometimes just simmer, but you don’t just let go of sports rivalrieS…… haha!

Ya I can see why that would be. A few back and forths here have made it clear to me that being a TV viewer over an Ontario resident subjected to their fans is probably the difference.

Those were tough years losing to them and the media coverage was insufferable. Hopefully we get a chance to revive that rivalry again soon.
