It doesn't guarantee a series win but yeah, it would be nice to start off for once in the lead and not chasing the series.

Leafs can outmatch any line but the 4th. They also have a much improved defense after the trade deadline. Leafs have this series on paper....they just have to not let Tampa physically dominate the series. Finish your checks, draw penalties and leave the extra curricular garbage to Tampa.

if the leafs play scared to make a mistake like they played game 7 against montreal, we're done. i want to see us take it to tampa from the get go. gone are the randy carlyle days when we couldn't even make a 10 foot pass and were constantly hemmed in our zone. it's not david vs goliath. we're a great team and have a good chance at taking the series.

Not a fan of the 7:30 start. Wonder why the later start?

I'm going to guess that it's about ratings, a 930 start means a 10 oclock(sans OT) finish which flows into the western game start. Holding on to the eastern audience for even an hour is probably worth millions extra.

Just a thought, but with all of the lost revenues of the past two years, you would think that the NHL would want to make some of those lost dollars up! What better way than a nice deep run by our much loved, but elsewhere hated Buds. The naked truth is that the deeper they go, the bigger the ratings, the bigger the ratings the higher the income.

I don't know this for a fact, I just know it's true.

Matchups aside, it’s crazy to me how many people are bullish on Florida this year and down on us. It defies logic.

Toronto:

Florida:

They hit more (although we’ve improved a great deal here over the course of the season)

Neither team has won anything in ages
Goals scored and allowed virtually a wash between the two.
Both have had shakey goaltending.

We have far better special teams and faceoffs.
We win far more games in regulation. You don’t get 3 on 3 to end games in the playoffs

While I don’t have stats for this, Florida came back in a lot of games, but that also means they got down a lot. Not sure the regularity of these massive comebacks will be so easy to just continue in the playoffs.

The only thing that separated us in the standings this year was our brief stumble out of the gate in October.

We are just as good as Florida. Or Colorado.

Or Tampa.

We can beat anyone.

The only question now is, will we

To add, bad goaltending for a good portion of that and it's still in line with their wins and GA. If the Leafs even got middle of the pack goaltending for 4 months, they would have walked to the President's Trophy.
