I wish I had as much confidence in our Leafs like you do. What am I supposed to think when last year we were all thinking that this is the time we'll at least make it to the conference finals, JT or not. We don't need JT to beate the lowly Habs. The Leafs just die, I mean just DIE in game 7's (game 5 against CLB). They can't score in that game, they just DIE.

As badly as I want to feel confident this year because of how great of a season we had, but this all happened last year also, the only difference was that we weren't playing the 2 time Cup champs. So how can I feel any sort of comfort, even if they take a 3-0 lead in games. Oh and that 8-1 thrashing we took from them doesn't help the confidence.
New year, new team, you gotta beleaf.

But i will say this, until they actually get that 4th win in round one, i will also be scared, but once we get out of that first round it truly is a new team and that monkey is off of our backs.

It's time to put the league on notice and there is no better way than to dismantle the back to back cup champs, the team knows whats on the line, 6 first round exits will lead to massive changes and this group likes each other.

All they need to do is to show up and go into battle together, for each other and I have no doubt they can win this series.

Don't think you can have Clifford, Simmonds and Spezza in the lineup at once. Need more youth. Still roll my eyes at the notion that we had Joe Thornton playing pp1 in last years playoffs.
I think our path to the Cup will be playing the fastest, most tenacious forward group we can. I don't mind dressing the big boys game 1, but long term, Bunting and Kase will hopefully be in, meaning only 1 of those 3 gets icetime.

Spezza was one of our best players last year I'm surprised to see him out.

I'm also surprised Kase is healthy enough to play.

One hit and he is done.

Kase is playing Russian roulette with his health and I don't think it will do the team much good to see him being carted off on a stretcher.

You would think that he would start on the fourth line.

Fourth line is too rough and tumble to risk him getting involved in a scrum or something. IMO anyway.

Honestly I figured they would keep him out until later in the series or round 2 (hopefully). Hopefully everything goes okay for him.

Lmao no he's not. Spezza isn't some game-changer. Stop this stupid narrative. The man is a 4th line rotational player and treated as such. In no way has his play this year meant a mandatory lineup spot.

Tampa has Corey Perry, Bellemare, and Maroon in their 4th line. This is Keefe trying to match the physicality in game 1 and seeing how we stand. We've clearly never empathized physical play like this in prior years, so this was due.

If it doesn't work out then it doesn't work out. You need players on the 4th line who are robust and can finish their checks hard on the opposition players. The idea is to wear them out because its a long series. Spezza is only ever a threat on the 2nd powerlay unit
Didn't watch the playoffs the last two years eh?

There is a stat called the GiveADamn Metre, and his was one of the only ones showing a score.

It would be awesome if we actually won game 1 for a change. The last time the boys did that I was 13, I'm now 31...

We actually won game 1 in 2019, but I agree with the sentiment. It would be nice to see us get off on the right foot. Take the game to them. Be the aggressor but smart about it

the fact of the matter is we have no idea what the effects of the last concussion were. He could have had minimal symptoms. They really could have just been extra cautious with him, similar to Muzzin. We'll never know. Bowen Byram has gone through the same thing and has come back and looked better than ever. Getting concussions is extremely dangerous and life altering but it's not always the end of the road for players. Especially with the right treatment, regiments and awareness of post concussion symptoms. I doubt the Leafs would have put him out there if they didn't believe his condition and mental state was manageable or in a good frame.

Additionally we need all the weapons we can get. Kase makes our team better in a lot of ways and can also be used on the PK if needed. He's going to be a huge boost to our offense.

Seems like the ticket prices aren't that crazy? I think I had to pay $400 for a bad seat against Boston in the playoffs, but seems like you get in for ~$275 tonight.

i unfortunately have no money right now after the tax man shook me down, just curious

You are right, I completely forgot we won that game. It's actually 1 win and 7 losses in game one in the last 8 series.

Just watched Jack Hans 13 minute video breakdown on how Tampa will try to beat the Leafs and it made me so fckn nervous. Felt some PTSD as well because it's way too similar to how Boston, Columbus and Montreal beat us.

They will forecheck the shit out uf our D and will give no space whatsoever in the offensive zone.

Matthews will go right through players and snipe it so I’m not too worried.
