You gotta get this crap outta the thread brother. Live in the present, let the past be the past.
Go Leafs Go.
I don't want to sound so pessimistic but I just can't forget all of those game 7's (don't care about the Caps series cause the boys were all rookies) but after that, it's just so hard to imagine that they won't do it again. I won't even bring up 2013 cause outside of Reilly, that was a completely different team.

We faced all different types of scenarios, first we were down 3-1 in the first series against the B's and won two straight to force game 7 and in game 7, we were up 4-3 going into the 3rd thanks to Kapy's shorthanded goal and then went to sleep in the 3rd. Next year we have JT and actually took the series lead 3-2 but then forgot how to score (when we needed it) for 2 games, Then of course came the Blue Jackets who were just a shadow of the team that swept the Bolts but again, our million dollar club forgot how to score in game 5, then of course came last year, that's still too fresh in my head. If it was one or 2 years, yeah I'd forget it but it was too many and just the way it happened last year.

Yeah, our boys might be more ready this season but they aren't playing the worst team ever to make the playoffs (like last years Habs) and without Bunting, our first line is nowhere as good, Kerfoot is having an excellent year but we need him on other lines.

I love Bunting but come on..... Let's not act as if he is the make it or break it piece on that first line lol. There is a 60-goal scorer and a close to 100-point player there.

Also, Kerfoot always puts in a good shift come playoff time. He was solid in the bubble and played great against the Habs.

Do we have any idea yet who’s doing play by play and colour?

On Sportsnet/CBC, I would be willing to bet everything I have that it will be play-by-play from Chris Cuthbert, colour analysis from Craig Simpson with Kyle Bukauskas as the rinkside host.

If by chance you are watching this on game on ESPN2, you will get play-by-play from John Buccigross, colour analysis from AJ Mleczko and rinkside host is Caley Chelios.

Waiting (im)patiently for puck drop.... 7:30pm 😕

One decision to make, blue Tavares jersey, or while Matthews.

For the love of all that is good, f***ing win this series please.

Anything less than a first round win will be a massive disappointment.

This is our year. We're the joke of the league for good reason, first round chokes after first round chokes. It's time to change that narrative once in for all!

I don't give a fk if we're facing the two time defending champs, that's no excuse to lose again.

Just watched Jack Hans 13 minute video breakdown on how Tampa will try to beat the Leafs and it made me so fckn nervous. Felt some PTSD as well because it's way too similar to how Boston, Columbus and Montreal beat us.

They will forecheck the shit out uf our D and will give no space whatsoever in the offensive zone.

It's going to be a good f***ing day boys and girls. I'm in downtown Toronto all day for wedding pics, praying this god damn rain stops soon. I got a good feeling today, we come out strong the boys understand the significance of setting the tone in game 1 and controlling the series. I'm feeling a Buds win, Matthews pots two. Wearing my Matthews socks for good luck.

Tampas roster has lost a lot of depth compared to the last 2 years, I think we can do it.

Thanks. I thought it would probably be Cuthbert/Simpson.

Not a fan of the 7:30 start. Wonder why the later start?

I don't mind it because it gives more time out for a few beers before the game. I assume they just wanted to stagger from the Boston/Carolina series a bit, which is smart.

Me too. 7:30 start means 7:45 or 7:50 puck drop.

At least I'll get to watch Boston/Carolina before the puck drops I guess.

Hopefully, Spezza is in tonight vs what they suspected was the 4th line of Clifford - Blackwell - Simmonds

Hopefully, Spezza is playing mind games with Cooper and not dressing that 4th line to counteract TB.

I read Keefe said he watched the last 2 years of TB 1st round hockey and noticed they played physical but that was a different team. They had Gourde, Coleman, and Goodrow 3rd line which is no longer there.

What I fear is the same thing last 2 playoff series is Keefe gets outcoaches or can't make in-game adjustments to win a series. If you look at his SSM days they had loaded teams who were great in the regular season but could never get over the hump in the playoffs. He had 1 good run with a stacked Marlies team but now in the NHL hasn't had postseason success.

Put your best lineup out there and that should include Spezza who arguably was Toronto's 2nd best player in the playoffs last year. He wants it and it showed last year while some just disappeared.

Congratulations fellow Leafer if it's your wedding coming up :thumbu:

If the team still can't adjust to that it might be time to move on from Keefe this summer

Extremely unlucky to have had the season we did and have to play the B2B Stanley Cup winners, with the best goaltender in the game, and arguably still the best team in hockey Round 1.

That said, I really think this is how it was meant to be. We need to earn our ticket to R2. Who better to go through than the Lightning. I am in an odd space, I am fully invested and behind our boys, but I also don't have anywhere near the expectations I had from previous years. To me this reminds me most of the Leafs vs. Caps series in Matthews/Marner rookie year. I obviously want the Leafs to go on a lengthy run, but I've already come to terms that it just might not be our year. Again...lol

I am still proud of what this group has done regardless, and I feel confident with this team going forward as foolish as that may sound to some. I will bet on Matthews/Marner leading us to the promise land any day. Elite elite talents that we are incredibly lucky to have in the blue and white.

Lets make some history boys, GO LEAFS GO!!!!!

I feel the same way. My expectations are low and unless the team just completely bombs and gets swept. I can't be mad at them losing against the back to back champs.

Every year is a chance to win it all and that's all I can realistically ask for. Within the next 2-3 years you will see the demise of Washington, Pittsburgh, Tampa and Boston and out of the rebuilding/non playoff teams, I don't see anyone taking over so the East will get considerably weaker within a few years with Matthews/Marner still in their primes. So just be good every year and one of the years you will have a chance to win it just like Washington.

All I know is that this series won't be easy even if we wind up somehow being 2-0 by Wednesday night. Leafs never make anything easy on themselves so I am expecting a 7 game series.

I agree that 30 minutes seems to be a lot because after 10pm I need to not only go to bed, but be asleep. I car pool to work and get picked up at 530 am so up by 430am. Anyway I'll probably listen to the 3rd period on the radio. Go Leafs Go!
