I feel like game 2 is going to be the opposite result of game 1. Not 5-0 but I think Tampa will win game 2 decisively.

They looked bad in game 1, and it wasn't because the Leafs made them look bad, they just looked uncoordinated and unmotivated. I think after that embarrassment it's going to light a fire.
Nope. Leafs win game 2 as well.

What a great GDT @PromisedLand !

We'll see if you're right, but I think Leafs are going to take it to the Lightning again. Leafs may lose, but it won't be a decisive win for TB I'm willing to bet.

If only that was really possible.
Don't shoot the messenger.

All I did was post an article from the Toronto papers that included TB coach direct quotes on what he said about his own team, and the Leafs.

If you agree with the premise of that last game and Coach Cooper's own comments yourself, then where is the problem?
Like the good coach he is, Cooper has little interest in pumping the tires of his opponent during a series. All he cares about is his team.

Sorry I don't mean to be a buzz kill, I'm just looking at it logically and chiming in. That doesn't mean Tampa will win the series, I just think in game 2 they will be the team we all thought they were and will probably win game 2. If I can add something positive it's that this Leafs team is the best Leafs team I've seen in forever and I think they have a very good shot at winning the series against Tampa which I couldn't realistically say about past Leaf teams.

Can you be more specific? Who are these lots of people?
I don't read every post but I haven't seen even one post acting this way.

🤭

I agree Tampa will look better and also played bad in game one (though Toronto also played very well.) I just found this funny that it happened on the same page.

No let downs, Nylander is going to be even better, Bunting is going to draw the ire of Tampa, get them off their game. Kase on the 4th line improves that line, reduces his 5/5 ice time but keeps him fresher for PP. Just don’t get involved in line brawls buddy.

I didn't think Tampa played poorly. Not at all.

They were firing on all cylinders in the first and still strong in part of the second period.

The Leafs just shut them down. Hard.

It affected the second half of the game and then Tampa dropped off. But by then the game was already out of reach.

This narrative that Tampa somehow played poorly is just nonsense. Any Leaf fan watching the first half of the game was probably alot like I was. Surprised at how well the buds were playing and terrified at the same time because Tampa was giving as good as they got.

Gtf out of here with Tampa gifted the Leafs this game. Leafs earned it by shutting down the 2 time reigning cup champs .

I hate to say it but Tampa being the bigger team is going to come out absolutely smashing us in every way possible to send a message back to us.

We are probably going to lose and I wouldn't be surprised if we lose some key player to injury tonight. Because we always lose a key player either by suspension or through injury.

I hope I'm wrong

The only thing "bigger" about them is their D. And if their D are going to be stepping in and hitting then that's a lot of potential for odd man rushes and such. The Leafs were mostly hard forechecking causing them problems, so Tampa would have to do the same.

I think Toronto's speed flattened the Tampa a lot.

Surprised them and we should continue with that. Limit time and space like we did.

Agreed, and our lines tonight look fast again with Kase being bumped down to the 4th line.

This is the path to any long term success - this team must outskate and outwork bigger, meaner teams.

I don't really have much time for the "Tampa lost rather than the Leafs won" mentality.

Leafs played fantastic, and there's no reason they can't continue doing so.

The Tampa is also overall a weaker team than they were last playoffs, and the playoffs before that.

Let's go.

Agreed.

Also, don't wait for the rough stuff. Engage first and often. Even after the whistle. Don't wait for it. You know it's coming. May as well instigate it.

They did this in the first game perfectly. It's part of what helped them dominate Tampa.

The Leafs are probably top 3 fastest teams in the league. Probably the first time since their run that Tampa has run in to a team faster than them. Miky, Engvall, Kerfoot etc have speed to burn and Nylander/Marner have insane edge work and agility that make it hard to man-to-man them. Not surprising at all that the Leafs generated a lot off the rush. Matthews is a great skater as well for his size but the added benefit of being able to stick handle in a telephone booth. Should be a fun second game to watch.

Tampa has some monstrously big defensemen, but they didn't appear the most mobile. I think that's where we exploited them most in game one and why they were caught on so many odd man rushes.

The Leafs played their best game of the season on Monday. Tampa didn’t play very well.
Both things can be true.
