He said on a different interview that the first call he got from his new team, within minutes of the trade was Matt Greene and how warm the conversation was, how enthusiastic Greene was to have him on the Kings and how good it made him feel.

Also, Carter in one of his early interviews as a King , when asked if while he was in Columbus if he and Richards kept in touch he said they talked a couple times a week and how often Richards would mention Kopi and how amazing a player he was, one of the best in the league, etc. . Carter then said, that now that he was here, Richie wasn't exaggerating, he is special.
So that respect he has for Kopi is very real.

Love how genuine Richie always is, a very humble guy who never takes credit for any individual accomplishment always defers to his teammates. And he said in an interview in the Kenora paper this week how honored he was to be invited to team Canada and special a privilege it is to wear your countries colors. He said that even though he's played for Team Canada several times (going back to when he was a teenager) it's always a special feeling when he pulls that jersey on and that Van. 2010 games were a highlight of his career. He really wants to make the team, and he even mentioned the special training for the Olympics he's doing because of the larger ice surface.


He's such a good fit on the Kings, sometimes Fate does things for a reason, she can be a very fickle mistress. I hope he retires a King, after several more Cups.
