NHL Standings Watch 2024-2025 - UPDATED 3/23/25

I want to see how they do when they have to play a weaker opponent- that has been a problem for this team in recent years, playing down to their competition.
 
Going by remaining opponents' winning percentage, as of tonight, the Bruins have the 2nd easiest (15th toughest) schedule in the East.

Their competition for that final wild card spot?
  • Red Wings = #1 toughest
  • Islanders = 3rd toughest.
  • CBJ = 4th toughest.
  • Rangers = 5th toughest.
  • Canadiens = 7th toughest.

I think it's still a long shot, but the Bruins definitely have a fighting chance of getting in.

Imagine.....the Bruins squeak in and face the Caps, we owe them for 2012. Wouldn't it be amazing to take them out? Pipe dream but I will hope.
 
Am I the only one that doesn't want to Bruins to make the playoffs? I get that they're 4pts out of a wild card spot and have the 2nd easiest schedule the rest of the way. If we're just "squeaking into a playoff spot" while having the 2nd easiest schedule down the stretch, then this team is getting slaughtered in round 1.

I really hope those two post TDL wins don't bite this team in the ass. Without those wins, we'd be sitting at #6OA in the upcoming draft.
 
NHL playoff watch: The Bruins' path to the postseason

“After Buffalo, it's a road trip through Nevada and California (Golden Knights on Thursday, Sharks on Saturday, Kings on Sunday and Ducks on Wednesday, March 26). All told, the Bruins will play teams currently in playoff position in six of the final 13 games after the matchup with the Sabres; the final five, in particular, could be a spot to make up ground, with two against the injury-struck Devils along with single games against the Sabres, Blackhawks and Penguins.

To be clear, this would be a long shot; in addition to going on a hot streak, the Bruins will need to jump ahead of four teams (which would all need to get cold, in this hypothetical). Stathletes isn't so sure all of that will fall into place, giving the Bruins a 2.4% chance of making the postseason. But stranger things have happened in recent seasons!

There is a lot of runway left until April 17, the final day of the regular season, and we'll help you track it all with the NHL playoff watch. As we traverse the final stretch, we'll provide details on all the playoff races, along with the teams jockeying for position in the 2025 NHL draft lottery.”

I feel bad for Columbus as they were derailed by tragedy last summer and they played over their heads.

Detroit ownership has to do something drastic and I expect the Rangers to fire everybody.

Buffalo has become a black hole. Ottawa has hope with new ownership.

Poutineville - Ownership was able to sell a rebuild to that fanbase and it's paying off faster than expected.
