I use a Warrior Kovalev, which is almost identical to the Staal pattern, just slightly more open than the Staal, I believe.
Honestly, I love it. I can take low, hard slapshots with it if I'm blasting it from the point, and I can get the puck up high pretty quick on snappers if I'm in tight. Because the curve is at the heel, it makes the rest of the blade (out to the toe) quite flat which gives me a decent backhand, but also allows me to pass well on both my forehand and backhand too.
Only thing I've ever really had trouble with is flipping the puck up really soft and high, like lobbing it out of the zone on a PK or flicking it to the ref for a faceoff. That might be because of the open curve though, so it might not be as bad with the Staal since it's not quite as open. Or it could mean my mechanics are terrible. I think I'll blame the stick.
