Who are our PK forwards?

Goodrow and Mika obviously. Rooney? Hunt? Chytil? Does Kakko get a look?

Mika-???
Goodrow-???
Strome-Rooney

I'd give Kakko and Chytil those two empty spots, and Strome replaced by someone.

Neither Blas nor Hunt have killed many penalties. They have had very limited roles to maximize their physicality.

My lines:

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kakko
Panarin-Strome-Kravtsov
Kreider-Chytil-Goodrow
Blais-Rooney-Gauthier
Reaves/Hunt

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Nemeth-Lundkvist
Tinordi

Shesterkin
Georgiev

PP1:

Kreider (net front)
Panarin-Zibanejad-Lafreniere
Fox

PP2:

Kakko (behind the net)
Chytil-Strome-Kravtsov
Trouba/Miller

PK1:

Zibanejad-Kakko
Lindgren-Fox

PK2:

Rooney-Goodrow
Nemeth-Trouba

My point is if Strome is on the team he should remain on PP1 and they should stick with the exact same unit that has been one of the best in the league until they are given reason to do anything different. That could be due to an injury, a prolonged lack of success, or anything else. I'm not really a Strome fan and don't like his lack of defense or excessive amount of penalties but I'm not going to just pull him off the top PP unit to force feed younger guys a spot there when those four forwards together have been the second best PP unit after the EDM trio. Those guys can still get some PP time on PP2 and will be the first to fill in on PP1 if a guy has to miss a shift for whatever reason. Their 5v5 play is way more important anyway. Who cares if Lafreniere/Kakko pad their numbers getting easy minutes on the PP? That doesn't make them better players. It just makes their numbers look better. The team is trying to compete for a playoff spot so I'm not about to do something that will probably make the team worse in the short term when I don't see it having a benefit in the long term either.

If you are not spoon feeding Lafreniere prime PP1 minutes every game to let him do what he does best, then you are really not doing him any good.

Want to play make them earn it with Kravtsov and all the other 1st rounders we have, OK, I can see the justification for that.

But your 1OA and 2OA? Accommodations need to be made for both of these guys (within the system)

Strome playing PP1 over either Lafreniere OR Kakko at this point is not good.

Imo most coaches like pairs of players, ie Zib/Laf.....Strome/Panarin....Chytil/Goodrow...Blais/Rooney. The rest will fill in around those guys imo.

If Laf is not on the first pp unit then something is really wrong with Either the player or the coaching.

So if Zac Jones is #4 in Vince's rankings the top 3 will be some combination of Schneider, Kravtsov, Lundkvist.

The 90's Rangers, for me, are more a story of terrible trades and effort than terrible FA signings.

Zubov for Robitaille, Robitaille for Stevens

Savard for Hlavac

Kovalev for Nedved

These were all big losing trades.

Losing Verbeek after only one season sucked big time as well. I really liked him.

The Kovalev and Zubov trades probably rank as the two worst in franchise history.

Yeah, why was Verbeek let go? They were cheap on the absolute dumbest occasion.
In case you never noticed...we have had some terrible front office work in the last 50 years LOL....Imagine if Sam Pollock and Scotty Bowman had of taken up residence in NY ? Isles were lucky with Torrey and Arbour .....a great combo . I think Drury and Gallant will make their marks in NYC . Both ex players and they know what is needed to win on the ice and in the playoffs . I'm getting pretty anxious for game one . I would have sooner faced the Caps about 12 games in....but....it is what it is .

I am sure @RangerBoy got the info on this one, but I think the owners before Dolan was just cheap back then…
My memory is slipping so I reviewed his stats /Verbeek and it actually looks like he was starting to decline which is likely why he was not resigned and he skipped for Dallas. We likely dodged a big bad contract for a change ....so...can't blame management on that one .
