Reaves, Bitetto, Rooney, Lindgren, Trouba, Fox & Strome
Foxy-clean went to the same all in one gym/buffet as Kakko, good stuff!

Don't let me down HF!
"it's the angle"

"shlumping + his sweatshirt is bunching"

"@EdJovanovski photoshopped it"

I found a funny coincidence with Reaves, someone pointed out in the Reaves thread that Ryan Reaves is actually the great-great-great grandson of Bass Reaves. Bass Reaves was one of the first Black Deputy Marshall's in the US and was famous for more than 3,000 arrests of violent criminals killed 14 of them in self defence.

So the badass gene runs in the family; and Bass Reaves was actually the inspiration behind the fictional character the "Lone Ranger" who appeared in many Westerns.

And now his great-great-great grandson is a Ranger :)
The last names are spelled differently.

There are movies and even a... wait for it...

DRUNK HISTORY on him

Yes but they are related, Ryan actually comes from a long lineage of law enforcement.

"A forward for the Golden Knights and one of the few black players in the NHL, Reaves is also the son of Willard Reaves, a former sergeant with the Manitoba Sheriff Services in Winnipeg.
He is also the great-great-great-grandson of Bass Reeves (his last name spelled differently when he was born a slave in 1838), the first black deputy U.S. marshal
west of the Mississippi. Nearly a century before the fictional character was introduced as a white man wearing a mask and sitting atop a white horse, history has viewed Bass Reeves as the first Lone Ranger."

Lindgren shouldn’t, and won’t get moved any time soon. He’s a heart and soul player, Fox’s best friend, and a player that we developed. Lindgren was initially supposed to be a bottom pairing defenseman and people questioned if his toughness would translate because he’s only 6 foot. He’s blossomed into a Dan Girardi clone for us.

There are few players in the league that come with the intangibles he does, I mean this guy willingly bleeds for us every night—something he has over guys like Fox. He’s a rare breed in the new NHL. I wanted to give him a 6-7 year contract

Your expectations were higher than mine I guess. I thought they would be a bubble team but miss. Why should they have been in a spot to make the playoffs before the last 2 weeks disaster? I always thought Pitt, Washington, Boston and NYI were better and more experienced and all of them had far better coaching. Even with all that they were 4 points out of a playoff spot going into the last 6 games when the shit hit the fan. When looking at the entirety of the season and taking into account they were the youngest team in the league they kinda met my expectations. 4 games above nhl .500 and +20 GD is not a major step backwards but more like running in place. This is the first year since the rebuild that I am hopeful they can get in but again it's not going to be easy. Washington, Pitt, Carolina, NYI, Florida, Boston, Toronto, and Tampa is a formidable top 8 in the east. Somebody hopefully will take step back and I do think we will take a step forward but that is no guarantee that we get in though. We could make some major progress and see some real growth from some guys and still fall short of playoffs. I think we have a good team and a good coach and I like that we will be a pain in the ass to play against. I just want them to bring it every night. Thats all I ask for.

I don't know how you could look at this team last year and say that they treaded water at worst. They looked like they were on a pretty substantial upswing before the pause, landed the 1 OA pick and had a budding franchise defenseman (who eventually won the norris) along with a very deep system and a variety of quality players on the roster. What ever happened to that group in the bubble followed the team into last year. The positive numbers (The GD, record or whatever) didn't reflect how this team performed for most of the year or where they finished in the standings. They sucked in close games, almost always lost those "swing" games where winning would have pushed them on a possible run, etc. That wasn't the case the 2nd half of 2019-2020. It wasn't so much what the numbers were, it's how they looked and performed in games that they needed to put their best foot forward, they weren't even competitive in most of them. Our coach was awful and thats been rectified, the roster is more rounded which is all good. If that isn't met with a step forward, that is a problem. We look at the things that went wrong here during the season, but some of those other teams had just as much, if not more to deal with. Boston and Pittsburgh were very injured teams last year. Pittsburgh basically missed their entire starting D for a month.

If they miss the playoffs despite playing well because other teams are just a hair better than them, then so be it. I don't think that was the case last year.

"Othmann said he spent extra time with Ryan Reaves, who "taught me a few things."

I asked what kind of tips, to which Othmann smiled and said, "I’m sure everyone is aware of what his thing is."

I'm guessing it involved how to make friends with your opponents... #NYR"

Im officially more happy with the Reaves move now.

The audacity Larry and co have to have a paid for service when 90% of team acquisitions get announced through the teams twitter account first lmao

I mean, I don't know what the answer is, but why would I pay $4.99/mo. for Post+ sports when The Athletic, for example, is less than that and covers nearly every sport and every team nationally? My renewal for The Athletic is $21.59. Annually. What does that break down to? A buck seventy five a month?

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Charge me $14.99/year and I'll think about it.

He's a keeper for the NY Rangers, but I, in no way, give him 6-7 years. Like Girardi he's the type whose play declines dramatically after getting beaten up for so long and does not age well. Do not want to be stuck with that contract in years 5-7. Have to think practically, not with your heart.

lol you think that is what did it?

Honestly, yeah.

The steroids combined with the strong cycle routines have changed the game.

Harrison Ford used to be the gold standard, now it's Hemsworth.

I mean he’ll only be 30-32 after that contract. Just because he resembles Girardi doesn’t mean he’ll age as badly. Look at someone like Brendan Dillon who also has a similar playstyle. Is older than Lindgren will be if he signed long term and was just traded for 2 2nd round picks
