Lindgren shouldn’t, and won’t get moved any time soon. He’s a heart and soul player, Fox’s best friend, and a player that we developed. Lindgren was initially supposed to be a bottom pairing defenseman and people questioned if his toughness would translate because he’s only 6 foot. He’s blossomed into a Dan Girardi clone for us.

There are few players in the league that come with the intangibles he does, I mean this guy willingly bleeds for us every night—something he has over guys like Fox. He’s a rare breed in the new NHL. I wanted to give him a 6-7 year contract

Lindgren should almost definitely be traded at the end of this contract. If there was ever a type of player primed to get overpaid that also comes with serious risk of injury and decline it's someone like him. His agent is obviously going to know this and aim to get as many years as possible.

What? Lindgren is not going anywhere. He’s literally the definition of the exact player we were looking for all off season. And he doesn’t even have a big cap hit and likely never will.

Lindgren is the type of player you win cups with, not trade to shed a couple million in salary.

Trouba is the one to move. Not as good as Lindgren, makes way more money than Lindgren.

lindgren is a valuable player on an even more valuable contract. He’s eminently movable and plays a position where we have potentially the strongest depth in the org. If we have 2 $9-11m contracts to be signed, he will likely be the player we have to lose in order to get them inked.

Lol so you’re gonna move the guy on the affordable contract who has incredible chemistry with our franchise defenseman? Doesn’t make sense

That's 3 years from now though, no?

They aren't trading him now, but what about 2 summers from now as he's going into the last year of his bridge deal?

I love the kid, but are we giving him a 5-6 year deal given the type of game he plays? Are we setting ourselves up for Girardi/Staal 2.0?

Yes, in 2 summers, he's JUST 25 years old.

regardless of style, at 25 years old, I give him 6 years EASY.

He's not gonna be 27-28 years old where his last 3 years takes him to 30-33.

Let me edit this and say that is exactly when his contract would kick in (27 years old), but I sign him anyway

Reaves, Bitetto, Rooney, Lindgren, Trouba, Fox & Strome

Ryan Reaves thread is locked so here ya go. Pound for Pound podcast with John Scott featuring Ryan Reaves.

Edit note: This video was posted on September 3rd of this year but appears to have been taped awhile back.
John Scott in this podcast states that the two tough players in the league he respects are Ryan Reaves and TW. On Twitter Scott went off on Wilson saying he “crossed the line” also saying the Buchnevich/Panarin incident was “gutless.

Coming from a guy who tried to assault Kessel off a face off and ruined Eriksson’s career with a cheap shot. Scott has and always will be a clown.

I wonder if this will be the year we as a board actually get the 'which rookie will have the best season' Fitzy preseason poll correctly.

We've been really bad with it so far. Kravtsov and Lundkvist the obvious top two candidates this year.

I actually don't disagree with point B as I felt that was the case with this team last year. Showing "something" doesn't mean that this team needs to go on a deep playoff run, but the listless play shown from this group last was a major step backwards. A lot of that IMO was on having a bench boss who couldn't keep things together and who the players eventually lost faith in along with all the off ice stuff that we don't even know half about, those things shouldn't be a concern this year. The injuries at the end of last season can be leaned on as a reason why they didn't eventually get into the playoffs, but they should have been in a spot before they all started to pile up, especially with the individual seasons we had from a handful of players.

That cannot happen again. They made pretty big changes, from the FO to the roster so if they go through the same shit again, all that means is they got rid of the wrong guys (or not enough of the right guys.)

Your expectations were higher than mine I guess. I thought they would be a bubble team but miss. Why should they have been in a spot to make the playoffs before the last 2 weeks disaster? I always thought Pitt, Washington, Boston and NYI were better and more experienced and all of them had far better coaching. Even with all that they were 4 points out of a playoff spot going into the last 6 games when the shit hit the fan. When looking at the entirety of the season and taking into account they were the youngest team in the league they kinda met my expectations. 4 games above nhl .500 and +20 GD is not a major step backwards but more like running in place. This is the first year since the rebuild that I am hopeful they can get in but again it's not going to be easy. Washington, Pitt, Carolina, NYI, Florida, Boston, Toronto, and Tampa is a formidable top 8 in the east. Somebody hopefully will take step back and I do think we will take a step forward but that is no guarantee that we get in though. We could make some major progress and see some real growth from some guys and still fall short of playoffs. I think we have a good team and a good coach and I like that we will be a pain in the ass to play against. I just want them to bring it every night. Thats all I ask for.

I think Reaves will be better then we think for this team. Showing up to an event like this shows something about his character.
Don’t forget, Reaves even at the age he is now was a huge factor in Vegas beating Colorado these past playoffs. Avs fans said it themselves, they had no answer for Reaves bullying their defenseman which is why Girard in particular and some other guys like Nemeth (lol) and Graves struggled that series. Check out the thread on the Avs board regarding the series, a lot of them say Reaves was a big factor and that they’re glad to have him out of the conference. Not to mention the confidence he gives a team having him in the locker room or on the bench. He’s someone that pumps up the boys and holds guys accountable, a type we need more of.

Flames sign Gudbranson, 1/1.9

1.95M to sign an absolutely horrible player who nobody has signed yet in mid-September lol

He played in 3 games in the series and in the first one his team lost 7-1. Vegas was 2-1 with him in the series and 2-1 without him. He played for a total of 9:30 minutes against Girard and 11 against Nemeth.

I found a funny coincidence with Reaves, someone pointed out in the Reaves thread that Ryan Reaves is actually the great-great-great grandson of Bass Reaves. Bass Reaves was one of the first Black Deputy Marshall's in the US and was famous for more than 3,000 arrests of violent criminals killed 14 of them in self defence.

So the badass gene runs in the family; and Bass Reaves was actually the inspiration behind the fictional character the "Lone Ranger" who appeared in many Westerns.

And now his great-great-great grandson is a Ranger :)
