So the Eichel emoji was on August 19th. Friedman said the meeting between Sabres, Eichel's agents, NHLPA was on the 18th. His agent is fired a week later. Eichel must have been pushing for something tangible and substantial in that NHLPA meeting that Friedman said went nowhere. Seems like he's serious about this disc replacement surgery and it may not just be posturing against the Sabres. Safe to say that meeting was the final attempt at moving forward between team and player. Jack will most likely sit at home until he's traded at the Sabres' leisure. They have him signed for the long haul. They have control of his medical decisions. This late into the off season with Eichel still needing months and months to heal, I doubt any team will make a move for a player that won't help them make the playoffs unless it's Vegas. This might end up being a January acquisition to sneak Eichel back in at the playoffs if the surgery takes 3-4 months of recovery.

So according to your post if Chytl can't handle 2C duties he is gone by next year? So he has no value besides a 2C? Not a big fan of his and not high on him like some here are but assuming he does fail he probably would have little value to someone else. The other possibility is he could fair better at a wing position.

If he doesn't end up at center, which I think he will and be fine there, he's probably a top 6 winger. As the roster is for now and seemingly into the future, I am not sure there is room for him. If one of our 3 young wingers fail though, it would be good to have him. Right now, obviously he's not taking Panarin's spot until at least 2026 if we don't extend Pan, but he's not overtaking Laf or Kakko until they've had years to fail, if they fail, hopefully not. And I doubt the situation with Kravtsov is much different. And then he'll have Othmann and who knows how many more future drafted wingers to contend with. As much progress as he's made on defense, at center at least, I am not sure he would work out as a 3rd line winger. Maybe, but I just think he will get to the point where he deserves top 6 time. I do think it's most likely, if he has a long term future with the Rangers, it's at center. If he does end up not quite suited to the top 6, then that could change. But at 21, I think he's made a lot of progress all ready and we are starting to see that higher capability. Per ATOI, he was our most complete center last season. I'm really not sure where to cap his plausible ceiling, but at this point, with top 6 minutes, I think his floor would be somewhere around 60 points. On a third line, 40-50 maybe. Rough estimates. Without PP1 time. So mostly PP2 time, which I think will be used under Gallant way more than it was under Quinn. But I am pretty high on him still.

The night everyone wanted AV gone and had already declared him a failure here

We went on to be probably the best team in hockey for the next 2 years

I miss the good old days when our team would actually improve from learning a system and getting settled in rather than the tire fire of never figuring anything out under Quinn for 3 years.

Yes, as a rookie, in AV's third game as HC and Biron's last.

ugh what a wild ride that season was. they looked absolutely terrible for like the first 15 games or something, just horrible, then suddenly everything clicked and they went wild and got to the finals (though the route to the finals was pretty tough)
then the next season, they started terrible and looked awful...then won the Presidents trophy and went to the ECF
then the next season, they started terrible and looked awful and...well, it was downhill from there

to be honest I'm not really sure the Rangers totally figured things out under AV either as every season they looked like they had no idea what they were about at the start of the season

Well, if one of those reasons is that they've mastered "clickbait" like few Youtubers could possibly fathom, then I would agree.

And they also post articles that should be HFboard thread rants.

But otherwise, sure.
Dude “clickbait” as a concept is like hundreds of years old.

2015-16 being the exception but yeah, every other season they were slow to start

They started the season on an extended California swing and road trip that year too because MSG was finishing up renovations. Those first 15 games, they were still getting their bearings and living day to day on the road.

Plus their system was a loose term.

Too funny not to share

Drury asleep at the wheel. Could of had a plus dman, smh.

Yes, I honestly think AV's system is not particularly easy for players to play. It seems like it relies on everyone getting everything just right and things "clicking" together. When it does, it can be magical, but when it doesn't it looks like no one knows what is happening on the ice
