New York Islanders: Something disturbing is happening...

The way this team has been playing, my opinion of cappy is starting to change, and i never thought id say that. I feel hes learning as he goes, and hes actually becoming a better coach, but i also feel that the combination of weight and thompson is what makes him seem better than he is.

i honestly feel like cappy is just a figurehead at this point....kinda like the queen, while thompson and weight are the ones who are really in charge. cappy is just there for comic relief with fake hillbilly teeth and stuff

i would have loved to see cappy break up the tavares line before this run we've been having here, but not at the expense of the massive awakening our 2-4 lines have had. i don't think boyes will be here and i do think someone competent will be instilled on that first line. we're just at the "grin and bear it" stage with boyes.

capuano as a coach...i really don't know what kind of factor he has in the locker room. i can only comment on what i see. he seems far less stoic and a little less of an out-of-place doofus than he has the previous two season. it warms my heart a little when i see him actually giving a **** and mouthing off to refs when they deserve it. he's become less of a terrible parody in the media and has a few instances of telling it like it is. right now, if the islanders make the playoffs and make some noise in the playoffs, as much as it pains me to say, i see no reason for him to be gone. weight and thompson could possibly have good head coaching careers ahead of them, but i'm not sure i trust them enough solo yet.

Now he just needs to fix the PP, which ironically was the only strength for over half the season.

i dont think there is anything wrong with the pp. we just havent had many opportunities lately (besides the last 2 games) in the month of april our pp is 22%. which is a higher % than our season 21%, good for 7th in the league.

the pk #s arent as good as i feel they should be, but thats fine because it seems like the pp goals we are allowing as of late seem to be after we have a lead anyway. (like the toronto game. 5-3 win, 2 pp goals allowed.)

Its the players more than its the coaching....

He still does certain things that upset me....But as long as we are winning then that's really all that matters

Coming in peace.

People (including me) seem to forget how dominate this franchise once was - would love to see you guys back in form, making the playoffs every year and Rangers / Islanders rival even more over the top because of it.

Cheers.

I hated him. I wanted him gone. But winning cures everything. This run has conserved his job for at least the next 2-3 years Id say, unles we underachieve big time next hear

Joe Torre / Jack Capuano

I had this interesting convo with my brother about Cappy. Joe Torre was utterly clueless and is going to the Hall of Fame.

Lets look at he similarities - neither coach ever made changes. It was the same guys every game. No substitutes, if he loved you then you played every game. Capuano plays the same lines every game.

Now baseball obviously has different line ups in regards to righty/lefty pitchers etc but Torre ran the same formula every year which is why later on other coaches like Francona and Soscia just out coached him. I still blame Torre for the 2004 Red Sox defeat.

Back to Hockey - jack does not over coach, he "simplifies" it and rolls the same line up every game. Yes winning changes everything as Clueless Joe is a hall of gamer and Cluelesa Jack took this team to the playoffs lol

Now Joe "Binder" Girardi is a different story. He over coaches!

What do you guys think?
