Considering a salary would have to go back in the trade, what it would cost Mtl to acquire him.

I doubt the Avs have any sense of urgency to trade Soderberg, so taking back a contract (presumably a bad contract) seems like a complete non-starter.

I'd do it for Desharnais and a 2nd round pick. I don't particularly like Desharnais but at least Avs get future flexibility.

So, MTL trades Eller in the summer only to trade for his clone in the fall.....

I rather wait for McCaron than spend assets on Soderberg.

The only thing that would tip the scale is if COL takes Shaw 1vs1.

Soderberg almost doubles Eller in points every year..

If Therrien uses him as a 2 line center I have no problem with it, but something tells me he will use him as a 3rd line center and wreck his points total down to a all time low.

At 4.750m the only way I see this working out is if MTL gets rid of Pleckanec and Desharnais in the summer witch IMO is highly doubtful.

I was a bit harsh with the Eller thing tho, sorry.

Well Avs fans here seems to be open on taking back DD in the deal.

a center line of Galchenyuk, Soderberg, Plekanec and Danault does it for me.

Then McCarron takes Plekanec spot the net season.

Even when McCarron takes the step, you will still have to get another top 6 center.

AS for Shaw, his contract will take all it sense when playoffs time comes up.

Caverns of Draconis
DD + Scherbak would be the asking price.

If that's to much, fine by us. It's not like we actively want to get rid of Sods. He's having a down year right now but the entire Avs forward group minues Duchene are struggling to produce consistently right now.

Really don't see a need for Soderberg right now, Montreal needs a puck moving D well before a slumping 31 year old center. Habs have one of those for cheaper and we've been sticking him in every trade proposal on this board since for 3 years now.

Don't mind Soderberg but I don't really see how he helps the offense.

I would do something around Desharnais + just because he's an upgrade at 3C but he has term and I don't know what the Habs plans are for Plekanec after his deal is up.

Plekanec is gone after his contract.

DD + pick or prospect would be the deal for Soderberg IMO. Soda would be a good upgrade on DD for this year's run an a good 3rd C next year.

He would be an experienced middle 6 center when Plekanec goes ans when Hudon/McCarron come in.
