So who else feels helpless as a fan right now?

Unfortunately I see the same problem. At a certain time you have to have a 74-75 season and if it's takes too long you lose players mentally and fans loyalty.

No, you lose fans, have a Columbus situation where they lost Nash and we lose an old Tavares and we're in the business of selling HOPE, not hockey, for another decade.

Sometimes a business is in business to be in business, not succeed. Wang is not in hockey to win games, folks. And Tavares will burn his career playing for such willing ineptitude.

Second time tonight: I do not spend one penny of my money on Charles B Wang or the New York Islanders franchise (what was once considered such}. Spending money on this team means you ONE HUNDRED PERCENT endorse the way they operate. There is no arguing this point, as you are giving them your money fr what they give you, meaning they don't have to change.

Stop going to games. Period. At least home games.....maybe then things will change for the better.

From 1972 to 07 I would attend about 10 games per year. Not bad considering it's about a four
hour trip each way. After Neil Smith was let go I stopped. Also I would bring some of my students
to a game as an annual trip, now we make a much shorter ride and go to an AHL game in Albany.

I was going to attend the pre season game in Brooklyn just to see the building. If they try it again next fall I will probably go but I'm not going Islanders games with Wang as owner anymore.

I don't feel hopeless. Yet.

I had high hopes for this team over the summer, but that quickly changed with the lockout. I have been pretty consistent in saying I expected this team to struggle and I also said during camp that I thought Garth was punting on the season by leaving Nino and Donavan in Bridgeport. So, I have hope that there was a rational decision to look to next season.

The team needs to plan on competing next year and that means spending actual money during the offseason (and there will be players available whether by free agency or by trade).

When they fail to do that, I will feel hopeless, at least for a couple of years until they move and Wang sells (which I believe he will do if he won't start investing more in the team).

I don't know anyone could have had high hopes for this team, we all should have seen this coming. When you replace P.A Parenteau with Brad Boyes, and THEN, make no other Free Agency moves to try to make this team better, how can you have high hopes ? Carkner, Boulton, talentwise, how are they better than what was already here ? Toughness wise they help. But they don't make the team better talent wise. So you take away one of Tavares' best teammmates and linemates, and add Brad Boyes. This team had no chance from the get go. All we can expect, is that the guys who were here, progress, unfortunately, the only guy I see progressing is Tavares.

I've been a die-hard for 29 years, and it has been beyond trying lately. The Thomas move drove me to the edge. I will never abandon this franchise, but once we predictably dealt for TT's cap hit, I decided that I will no longer attend games, or put even one more cent of my hard-earned money into this franchise until it proves that they are serious about winning. It was tough sitting around this past weekend, not going to the games (even with the weather), but I just can't do it anymore.
