And I found my old hockey skates from when I was a kid:

Here comes the fun/sad part:

They have never been sharpened. Not even once. There are literally no edges whatsoever on the blade, it's completely flat and always has been. No wonder I sucked at skating!

Says a lot about what my parents were like as well, spend at least $40 on a pair of skates? No problem. Spend 2 bucks and 20 minutes of your time to have them sharpened? No chance.

I'm beginning to wonder whether my parents may have been trying to (and ultimately succeeded with) sabotage my hockey career to save themselves from future equipment expenses or if they were just plain dumb.

Nah, I've had the urge to start playing again for about 5-6 years now but there just isn't enough ice time available here in Gothenburg to keep any strictly recreational leagues for adults going.

Honestly one of the few truly bad things about living in this otherwise wonderful city.
