I've been wondering, let's say you have categories, head to head. Do the stats get determined by just what each goalie puts up(their average for the games they played), or by all their individual games combined? Example:

Igor plays 2 games:

2.00GAA .950%
4.00GAA .900%

Halak plays 1 game:

2.00GAA .950%

Now does Yahoo calculate by the stats by the average of Igor's stats (3.00GAA .925%) and the average of Halaks stats (2.00GAA .950%) which would equal a 2.50GAA and .937 Save %

or is it the average of the 3 individual games, which would be 2.66GAA and a .933%.

Hope this makes sense!

GAA is the total number of goals allowed by your goalies divided by units of 60 minutes ((goals / minutes played) x 60). It is very precise, when a losing goalie gets pulled out at the end his GAA will raise slightly.

SV% is the goal totals of all goalies divided by number of shots.

Your first method of calculation would make absolutely no sense. If you get a relief goalie that allows no goals for one period it wont affect your GAA that much. It counts as a goalie start though.
