If the guy can't hack it in the KHL why would an NHL team hire him?

He won back to back Gagarin Cups the two prior seasons... How is exactly is he someone that "can't hack it"?
People really do fail to understand context, don't they? Even when the OP blatantly states that he's won twice in the KHL.

Because it's KHL (Kolkhoz Hockey League), they can fire a coach who won 2 cups in 3 seasons...

Guy with all of his international experience and a long NHL career...I'd have to think he'd be a really interesting option but I know nothing of him as an actual coach.

Yes, though I still doubt he would get outright hired as a head coach. But as an associate, with the promise of getting the nod in the future.
Coaches are not hired into the NHL because of merit, but because of connections. Otherwise guys like Rikard Grönborg or Jukka Jalonen would've been given a chance already. A former NHLer has an easier time getting into a position to succeed, but still not hired straight to the NHL job I would have to imagine.

Why did Bruce Cassidy get fired? Coaches are hired to be fired, that's the way it works. They reach their shelf life then on to the next guy
