I fail to see how seeking inefficiencies can be a critique.

Besides, he typically drafts one of the youngest players in the draft each year
because only according Dubas are they inefficiencies

wow he drafts a younger birthday , just like everyone else , lol

i'm just thankful he stopped spewing his bullshit philosophies endlessly , the guys f***ing cringy every time he gets in front of a camera

Lol, wow.
In the Toronto market, what’s he supposed to say? Nothing?
I get criticism, but criticizing his drafting and media approach seems like grasping at straws.
But, I guess that’s what makes the world go round eh?

say what every other GM would and that is pimp the kid you just drafted and not ramble on about your draft philosophies like you just re invented the wheel

as i said however he's been much better lately and he's been much better at staying out of the media like Lou use to , the good thing about Lou was he knew the show was on on the ice and he knew if the team performed well he'd get the credit he deserved

Dubas has a hard time just answering a simple question without promoting himself , he's getting better but still can't help himself sometimes .

I think Dubas just acted very similar to any young people who put into a management position. Like others, Dubas wants to show he deserves to be in that position and he wants to prove that by stating he is making smart decisions. Like you, I find him getting better at handling the medias.

The skill and speed is still there up front. The defense is more physical and crease clearing while the forwards have found it in them to be more engaged physically.

Come playoffs, shinny hockey is gone and the whistle is put away. Not my rules. The league won't change its spots. The Leafs skill hasn't won a round.

Knowing this, I much prefer this D over Ceci, Barrie and others. Not as flashy, but other teams won't arrive at the arena with any enjoyment at the prospect of being hit by the Leafs defensemen when the game gets in the mud.

You can bet the farm that the game will indeed get in the mud once playoffs begin.

I'm not judging this team by regular season performances.

They're obviously a playoff team, and have been for several years now, so whether they accumulate 95 points or 110, it's of little significance to me.

They'll need to play with grit in the playoffs to advance, that's not debatable. Grit doesn't mean they have to throw their weight around either, but it does mean they'll have to be able to take a hit to make a play. Marner, I'm looking at you specifically!

An odd statement considering the organizations top prospect is a 6'3 200+ pound power forward
And the second most recent ELC signing was 6'8" and 249.

Some people love the sound of their own voice no matter how wrong it is.

What the heck is this thread.

We're on pace to absolutely demolish the single season points record for the franchise, a franchise that has lasted over 100 years.

We're 7-3 in our last 10, often starting a 3rd string goalie, and missing half our defense.

This team is better than ever before, and more importantly, as well built as its ever been for a playoff run.

You can’t count seasons before the loser point as part of the history of point totals for any team.

The loser point has made that comparison useless.

i wonder if he's going to turn out as stellar as 6'5'' 245lb Justin Brazeau who's path he's following

We have been worse as a team since we tried to add grit/size to the team. Simmonds, Foligno last season, Thornton etc...
This team was a lot better when they were mainly skilled.

I would say they were ineffective because they were way past their prime, not because grit and size are bad. If the club had gone for Perry instead of Simmonds it would have looked a a lot better. As far as Foligno the teams pro scouting let them down big time on that deal because even when not hurt he was used up, as he has proven in Boston. In fact, Troy Bodie may have been the driver for acquiring all three of those guys as I would assume the GM at least talks to his pro scouting department before he signs everyone..

Not sure whether Joyce or Dubas figured Simmonds would be more useful than Perry but I guess any older vet is going to be a crap shoot and they probably get that one back for the Bunting signing.

I get that point, sometimes he seems too transparent and open. But I don’t mind it myself.
I think @Francis summed it up well.

On pace for a franchise record last season, looks like we’ll hit it this year, despite dogshit goaltending for half the year.

I think we’re plenty skilled.

Point percentage is a much better barometer.
This team is on pace to set a record for this as well, a record established by last year's team.
