My shot is better now with a new stick than it was in 1979. Players don’t drag behind hooking me with their sticks. I never have to worry about being offside because there’s no redline. Absolutely no neutral zone & heavy bangers to get through……I love todays game but come on, give Bossy or Lafleur todays sticks, rules, training/nutrition & no redline they’d be playing shiny. Don’t mistake parody with progress. Anyway, just IMHO. Cheers.
I agree on the old blueliners from the 70's and 80's , they could dominate in any generation. The forwards from back in the day were just not as good as the kids today, couldn't skate like this, handle the puck such a difference in the top end players. The equipment is so different now, no doubt.. but McDavid in the 80's is smashing 99's records to pieces, he's 5x the player Wayne was in my mind. Even when i watch the old highlights and how small the goalies were, how slow the game was..

But certainly Bobby Orr, Beliveau .. the legends on the blueline, they dominate even today

I inferred nothing. I stated Gretz, Mario & Orr’s numbers would be untouchable if they played 1700+ gms like players are doing now.

You don’t understand that?

Gordie Howe was the greatest of the 40+ players….todays game would be a dance for some of the legends.
Gretzky was better in playoffs than OV. Ovechkin choked many playoffs
