New strategy: Draft and sign every single competitive goalie. Your NHL roster will get blocked 93% of the time by our NHL goalie. Our AHL roster will get blocked 78% of the time by your ECHL goalie. Check and mate.

I still can't believe someone in Greenwich, CT named their child Strauss.

Even better after I looked up the meaning: "German: nickname for an awkward or belligerent person."

Was a little surprised he left Michigan with eligibility remaining to turn pro in Sweden. He's a little undersized for NHL standards but no harm in giving him an ELC.

It’s weird the Sharks didn’t sign Chrona after his win

Maybe the timing isn't coincidental and San Jose was waiting to hear what Chrona's plans were for next season. It would be understandable if Chrona preferred to play out his senior year over a year in the AHL.

Naturally going out on top would seem like a natural decision (ie Bobby Brink) but getting his degree and enjoying one more year of college life makes sense as well. ESPN had former national champion Colby Cohen as a commentator for the NCAA postseason and he said something to the effect of "Don't be in a rush to sign if you're going to start in the minors. I've been there. It's not a glamorous lifestyle. A lot of colleges have better facilities than some AHL clubs. It's not a bad option to stay in school, play with your friends."

Mann had to sign a 1 year ELC because of his age, so that works out for San Jose. They get a year to see if Mann turns into anything and they could still sign Chrona next spring.

SJ has a great AHL facility, but with the logjam he could end up in the ECHL so I get it.

Good!
We need more players with truculence. Someone who will skate 200 feet to the other goatlender's net and fight him.

San jose all of a sudden has a million goalies. Martin Jones hurt us so much management has traded for Hill, Kahkonen, and Chrona, while also signing Reimer, Stalock, and now Mann, and drafting Gaudreau all in the past 12 months.

Can't say it wasn't expected after holding onto Niemi and Jones for far too long.

Looks like they're trying to recreate Jones, but at a reasonable price.

Then you must not know Greenwich.

What a phreaking weird name.
But it does follow the prevailing theme of Americans reviving old names like Holden, Charlotte, Benjamin, and Emma OR using last names as first names like Cohen, Remington, Strauss, and Harrison.
