We knew he and heinen were only part of that MP/DOC trade to make money work for Vancouver. This doesnt shock me plus pens were almost at maximum contracts. This gives them another spot if they take on more cap contracts by Friday

Yeah I figure they're shipping off Rutta for a 3rd and wanted a warm body to replace him.

Just odd that they picked Desharnais as the guy to replace him. Granted they'll probably get a 3rd or 4th for him next year as well, but still.

Not sure of his injury status, but he's a big RHD on an expiring deal with cup experience. I think he'd have value as a depth guy to a contender.
