He's not, he was injured through training camp so he remained on the Sharks roster while he rehabbed his injury, but he's a Cuda signing. Gotta get through waivers to get to the Cuda.

Carlsson was collecting his AHL salary while injured due to being on SOIR and no NHL time last season. Still, his AHL salary is $425k so not bad.

Partly opportunity. He's also kind of a two-way guy but not excellent at anything. In Florida he got passed over by guys like Mahura, Kulikov, and Balinskis.
