Not too famous here but kind of a cool story. Had an unsuccessful career in the US (though a bit of fame in Australia) but in the late 70s/early 80s, he became bigger than Elvis in South Africa. Because there was no internet, everyone in South Africa assumed he was dead until the late 90s when his daughter discovered a website about him and found out how famous he still was there and he had to fight for royalties.

Damn, I randomly thought of him just a few days ago and Googled to see if he was still alive. I really enjoyed Searching for Sugarman. Seemed like a guy with a lot of talent, could have made it big, but there were just too many other great singer/songwriters at the time, he got lost in the shuffle. I’ll probably have to give that documentary another watch now. R.I.P.
