I've found community boards for just about anything. I found info to fix a car problem that turned out to be common on a automotive chat board of dedicated to that model. Same with some other simple appliance repairs.
If it is sports or specific team related just google your eyes out, I've even found a forum for Jr C Hockey in Ontario.
Not much traffic though...
HF is owned by Evolve and has several other message boards but the two most similar to HF in size and activity are:
Sherdog which is focused on MMA - Sherdog Forums | UFC, MMA & Boxing Discussion
The SuperHeroHype Forums - comic books/movies and such.

Y'know, I don't disagree, but I find these days it shows too much of nothing when it comes community style places.

I'm not much into the comic book or mma world, but a nice movie community would be cool. I will check it out.

Ya, I'd say the problem is finding active communities, and with social media these days everyone flocks to the same 5 places, I'm looking for the off brand stuff, since I'd rather avoid the popular spots for my own reasons.
No, but it does provide heavily discounted prices on Mexican jumping bean infused jockey shorts. Of course, said beans obviously gravitate towards the port side. If more general coverage is desired, a different website might be more appropriate.
