What would be the value of Debrincat in a sign and trade situation to Vegas? With them being competitive and low tax, Debrincat could come in at only $7.5mill a year. I'd assume for cap purposes, Barbashev's rights would be going back to Ottawa minimum.

There is a lot to unpack here:

1. Why would lower taxes mean he'd take such a low deal? He might be willing to accept a bit less, but the idea it would be substantial is baseless.
2. Why would Barbashev's UFA rights mean anything here? He's a UFA.
3. Why would Vegas need DeBrincat in the first place? They already have 2 major play driving wingers (Stone and Marchessault) and they'll have 2 good complementary pieces to them in Smith and Barbashev if Barbashev re-signs.

Not as crazy as it sounds. Marchy is on the last year of his contract but is 32 and it would be just like Vegas to deal the Conn Smythe winner while he's a hot commodity in exchange for a younger player to fill the same role.

BTW, isn't Barbashev a UFA?
