We don't need that in the playoffs. We need "go into the gd corner...take the hit and fight for the puck"

It's like the giving up on the icing call that got play time, that neglected to show the puck going behind the net with a Lightning player already beyond the face-off circle. It was impossible for him to beat the icing call.

Smarter not harder.

The strategy was to get the puck not be driven into the boards. He almost stripped the puck but was double teamed.

ROI.

I hated that play the moment it happened and also knew Nylander would take a ton of flak for it. Well deserved. But at the same time there was also nothing productive about getting plastered. But at the same, same time a player running those calculations isn't the best look.

Whether or not Nylander is soft, I think it's entirely in the eye of the beholder. But I would say if it's a problem, it's more of a roster construction problem than a Nylander problem. We have a skilled Big 4 and that's fine. But the best way to protect that skill is guys isn't to roll out guys like Kerfoot and friends behind them who don't play a hard game. Yes to Nylander but no to waterbugs and guys who make soft skill plays farther down the lineup.

Not the popular opinion on that one play that everyone is pissed off about. I also think Keefe is not a fan as he was hard on him in the AHL.

We need cap space and Willy is the best possible option

Yup. After watching him pull up on a 50/50 puck because he's afraid to get hit...we don't need that. Marner was throwing his weight around ffs. Willie needs to go. The compete is just not there.
Exactly. At the end of a long shift, instead of following the puck in and forcing the play back behind the net, he should have just peeled off to the bench and allowed Tampa a quick break.

See if the improving Sens will give their 7th. overall for him (maybe +/- assets).
Trade Kerfoot for a 2nd./3rd. round pick.

Then use the cap space to get some better 3rd. liners.

Rackell and Copp maybe?
Trading Willie for a pick + means you are gaining only cap space for the immediate future and that probably makes them less competitive. Unless they want to then deal the pick for a young cost controlled player at a key position of course. There is a chance Nylander is worse with the Sens but I wouldnt bet on it. I would really prefer if Willie was moved west and we never had to worry about him in the playoffs.

I like Nylander and would enjoy seeing him play in Toronto more often. 😉

How about this one:

Nylander, Kerfoot and conditional 1st. (condition Leafs make 3rd. round)
for
Tuch and Okposo
Add Dahlin and it is a deal

Wings fan here in peace, I read an article today about why a Leafs and Wings trade makes sense. In a deal for Tyler Bertuzzi who has 2 years left at 4.75 Dubas has called about him before and his is coming off a career year with 30 goals and 65 points in 68 games and the guy has been our clutch player. Now to the Wings in William Nylander, coveted player for the Leafs for sure but their most movable asset as well as taking Peter Mrazek off their hands.

With this move the Leafs add a player that they covet (Bert is the definition of a fearless gritty player) who has 2 years left on his deal as well, they shed 7 or 8 million off their cap and clearly they want to move from Mrazek when he will be a tough move. Also adds alittle more flexibility when it comes to signing Matthews next season. As a Wings fan i really don't want to lose Bert but it's hard to tell if he just wants to cash in or if he just wants to Win? I can actually see him being a piece that would put you guys over they top. To have him and Bunting for Matthews and Marner would hard to play against. We are still rebuilding and Nylander would be a nice fit in Detroit with all the fellow Swedes.

What do you say Leaf fans? Not a thread to bash the Leafs something I came across and seeing what you guys think? As a Wings fan i'd be okay with it. Taking on a lot of salary but we would get Nylander and Mrazek came from here, played with Ned and we ned a backup for a few season until Cossa is ready. This is the test for Dubas that's clear. He shown he has appeal in getting players but now can he makes some challenging smart moves to manage his cap better? It would be smart to make deals to shed some salary so they don't blow their window plus you have a few good prospects that are gonna fight for spots too. Also as a gm you gotta know when its time to make changes until of just letting guys walk into free agency.

You guys get a higher end player arguably the Wings top forward and save roughly 3 mill from Nylander and dutch Mrazek's contract to be able to sign a #1 goalie and get defense help
:clap::clap:

I like it. Thanks for being reasonable, as a fan of another team, with a trade idea.

We get the type of player we need at a very reasonable price and also lose Mrazek's cap hit. That's a ton of money right there. 7 to 8 million, as you said.

I'd then go out and get Nino Neiderreiter for 5ish million.

Bunting Matthews Marner
Bertuzzi Tavares Niederreiter

Two players who will compliment Tavares very well.

👍 ya thought for sure i'd get crapped on lol. Curious though why Neiderreiter? Why not bring up a rookie and beef up the defense?

Nylander needs to go. One of these core players needs to be moved. Matthews and Marner are too good to give up despite their constant no shows in elimination games and Tavares is unmovable.

He can be so clutch sometimes in big games though, more so than Matthews/Marner/Tavares have demonstrated so far. Too bad he’s so soft and complacent far too often.

I can’t watch this team unless he’s gone. Uber skilled, fantastic snapper, but holy hell does he not give a shit or have any balls, cannot stand prima donna players

I am not much of a Nylander fan but would not deal him unless it was worthwhile and not some kind of average guys and cap dump.

I think he has high value by some teams and the return could be a good one .

I have a hard time seeing him dealt though because he was the guy that first screwed over Dubas and then had Dubas praising the hell out of him and I just can't see Dubas trading his 'it was all worth it' guy.

I axe again: trade him where and for what?

to the Isles

William Nylander + Justin Holl + 24 4th

to the Leafs

Kieffer Bellows(RFA rights) 6'1" 200lbs 23 yrs big hitter and a big shot bottom 6 PK guy who is still developing, will drop the gloves if required

Scott Mayfield 1 yr left 1.45m 29 yrs 6'5" 220lbs 346 NHL games bottom 4 R shot stay at home bulldozer PK's

Aatu Raty 19 yrs 6'2" 185lbs C Karpat Finnish Mens think Sean Monahan

+ 23 1st + 24 2nd + 24 3rd

9m going out and 2.4 or so coming in net out 6.6 in space

Bunting - Matty - MM
Mik - JT - Kase
Knies/Robertson - Kampf - Engvall
Bellows/Cliffy - Spezz/Blackwell - Simmonds/Abruzzese

TJ - Reilly
Muzz - Liljegren
Brodie - Mayfield
Sandin

The leafs should have traded Nylander last year to create space to re-sign Zach Hyman.

This organization places no value on work ethic at all. -> which is exactly why they have 5 consecutive first round exits.

Hyman didn’t help at all

He’s helping Edmonton…that’s great, but he sucked balls in the playoffs especially last year

Throw in Mrazek for Varlamov. Also is that Brodie on the 1st and 3rd pairs?

Hyman had 1 point in 7 games against the Habs.

Nylander was a no-show in game 7 only scoring after it was out of reach.

The entire team including Nylander disappeared for game 7 against Montreal.
