haha, i voted no, only unless he decimates someone on Saturday and forces game 7...

and then does it again. If he doesn't hurt someone, i dont to see his puck bobbling blueline face again.

No. And I‘ll tell you why.

Because based on his last 3 outings I see it as standing not for “captain” but another “C” word…..

Damned accurate, too. He, and a lot of others, got a lot of redeeming to do.

This isn't Daryl Suter fan fiction.

He gets one more year as Captain after this one. If it's the same shit, then he's traded in summer of 2024.

No I doubt it will help us next season. We almost need a new defense more size and muscles:)
Tampa got a key defender in Victor Hedman - he is 32 now and start to get older but resulted in some cups earlier so defense is really important in NHL.

He's also one massive hit away from getting into our good graces....

so there's that.

No, we shouldn't strip him of the C because we should just run him out of town.

8 million blumbering oaf and all he's done is play replacement level D and taunt that devils kid behind the net.

Mikkola is a better player. That should tell you how easy it would be to find a Dman that plays the puck better than Trouba for less than 8 million.

I get that people are unhappy losing to this team we pretty much all hate but this thread IMO is pretty dumb. If we do not make it past the first round this year it's another lesson---one that nothing is ever guaranteed. Having been a Rangers fan for 51 years now occasionally there are magical years. For me they would be 1971-72, 1978-79, 1993-94, 2013-14, 2021-22. We've never had two in a row.

Should also keep in mind that the Devils---hate them as we do are a very very good team....and it's also not the first time that a goalie has shown up out of nowhere and turned into cryptonite for us. Even in 93-94 Brodeur just about carried that off.....and Patrick Roy was another who kind of f***ed us over in the playoffs.

But anyway the Rangers biggest issue hasn't been their defending.....it's been the offense. Neither Mika or Artemi are getting it done and they are really our two offensive play drivers.

We did have a really good record last year in elimination games so........

But anyway when things don't go our way some of us the first thing they think about is punishing somebody. Maybe sometimes that works but more often it seems to me to be counter-productive.

The storyline of the season was how Trouba rallied the team after the helmet toss.
One playoff series doesn't take away from this. He is still the team leader and he does a lot of charity work.

Why does he always have to lay someone out in order to get this team to respond? I dont get it.

I always thought the "C" was a way for the organization to save face with his God awful contract. Trouba to me is a default captain. Kreider would be my choice but that is not an endorsement of his leadership either, rather a reflection of his clutch play.

Who else on this team would be captain material?

Mika? Perhaps and he is a great 2 way player. May not have the personality for it though in NY.

Lindgren? Possibly, but I think Robertson supplants him in the lineup sooner than later and he leaves as a UFA.

Goodrow? Great 3rd 4th liner with a championship pedigree, but that awful contract needs to be addressed. Would be another Trouba situation.

Laf? Heck I will be happy if he scores 40 pts in a season at this point, let alone wears the C.

So that leaves Trouba as the best of the bunch by default

Not much else to pick from.
