You realize they just pushed the b2b champs into a 7 game series they themselves said was the hardest one they’ve had yet? First second third round, doesn’t matter it’s about the match up and those are the odds on favourites to three peat, and they lost by 1 goal over 7 games.
It’s definitely not blow it up, it’s also not sit on your hands time either.

No, I didn't realize that.

Thanks for letting me know though.

Vegas just fired their coach who went to Semi finals last year and conference finals the year before

They also fired Gallant who took them to the finals

Yet somehow our supreme leader has hard time firing a fake coach who cant get us past 1st round

What does it take to get fired around here?
This decision will speak to whether winning or loyalty are his concerns, whether he actually has the guts to be a GM or has this misguided belief that we all go down together. You have to do something right? I suspect Shanny has a say here too. All the arguments used against Babcock surely apply here right? Three playoff failures, three times not the best coach in the series, three shots with an enviable core, thats sport. He also has ZERO pedigree prior in the NHL, why does he deserve a protracted run without success?

Lou wasn't the right choice. The game has passed him by. Trozt is the same. Shanahan, Dubas and Keefe are all learning on the job as they go. They have what 15 years experience total! You can't just throw that away. They are some of the brightest minds in the game. Cutting edge, wunderkin. The playoff answer is within the hearts of the players: we have the right people! Now execute! I give this core 2 more years, then rebuild the team with Shanahan, Dubas, and Keefe. Simple as. NO MORE DINASAURS!

These conspiracy theories are absurd. Ask yourself who decides to do this? Is it Bettman on his own? Or the owners (but that would be just the US owners correct)? And are the owners unanimous in agreeing to this? How does it all work, do the refs get paid extra for this? How many refs have been involved with games with Canadian teams? What are the odds of everyone keeping the secret? What happens to the league's reputation if this is exposed and is the risk worth the reward?

Methinks some of you guys watch too much TV.
Tim Peel.

I think one thing is being overlook is that firing Keefe is one of the two remaining bullets Dubas got to save his job, the other being trading a core piece. So if Dubas fire Keefe and gets Trotz or whoever to come in, it will be do or die for Dubas.
He bet his job on this core twice. This is now the 3rd attempt. It should already be that. And if this is the final year of his GM contract…Bang.

Ya the game passed Sutter by too right? Trotz was considered one of the best last year, but yes now Father Time has spoken. Alrighty.

Uh, no? One on the principle arguments was that the players didn't like him and he had lost the room. That doesn't appear to the be the case here at all.

I'm not against upgrading on Keefe if we can get a Trotz or Mike Sullivan, but this is not comparable to the Babcock situation.

Sure it is, playoff failures and expectations not met. Nobody gave two shits if people liked him had they won, so your point is tertiary.

Depends on if you’re a process oriented person/organization or not. It’s not a video game, Vegas keeps changing parts every time something shiny pops up and now they’re old, cap strung and missed the post season in a really weak Pacific division.
I’m not saying firing or keeping Keefe is the right call, I can see arguments for both sides, especially with some quality coaches out there right now. We all know the reasons Babcock was let go had little to do with the things you mentioned and more to do with losing the room and creating a toxic AF work environment that people obviously didn’t enjoy coming to daily and being a committed part of, that’s not Sheldon’s issue.

Despite his phenomenal season record I don't Keefe would have any interest if relieved. Trotz will be taken shortly. Easy answer.

Babcock wasn't fired because of a playoff loss. He was fired mid-season because the team was playing terribly in the regular season and had tuned him out. Again, it's not comparable.
After all the playoff failures. Again, if we won he wouldn’t have been canned. He could have been the most hated man in the world and nobody would have cared if he took us to a cup final.

Hi Zeke is this your ALT account?

So you think Dubas is making decisions based on self preservation. Doesn’t sound very progressive.
All GMs do. Their jobs are always on the line if they can’t meet expectations. I highly doubt the suits in the higher ups didn’t have going far in the playoffs as one of the expectations.

If he was hated and the players were still playing hard, no one would care. But when they stop playing for the coach, you need to make a change. Again, Keefe isn't remotely at that point, it's not the same at all.

Again, I'm not saying we can't fire Keefe. But the Babcock situation was toxic in a very different way, the team looked like they hated hockey in his last couple games.

I was too. I sometimes wonder if Dubas doesn't take the concept of loyalty too far and thus is 100% committed to Keefe. If that's the case then it'll be Keefe again next season but if not, Trotz is worth considering.

If Shanny is a real GM. Dubas is now getting his ass grilled. Dubas should make a move to save his ass. Keefe has been out coached every year in the playoffs.

Time to get a new voice. Light a fire under our guys.

Alberts and Calgary are in RD 2.
The reffing is shit but those Canadian teams did it.

Fire Keefe NOW get trotz NOW

You put the out of the box thinking so perfectly its hilarious and true. They seem to abhor doing something conventional with this team. The funny thing is we are getting better results (in the regular season) by getting bigger players and better physical D-first defencemen which goes against the whole "We need tiny puck movers on the back end" tripe that Dubas pushed for the first few years. Look at Mac Hollowell and Duszak ....they amounted to nothing yet they were the future of NHL d-corps in Duby's eyes.

We got a rookie GM learning about hockey while on the job and a rookie coach who is giggling at Kucherov, and Hedmans praise after the game.

Fire both of these guys before this is a Jays and Raptors city only.
