Should Toronto trade their 1st and 2nd picks in the 2022 draft for rentals?

  • Yes! The goal is to win a championship and the Leafs should do everything to make that happen

  • No! You never know what will happen in the playoffs and you should always be looking to the future!

Literally every playoff team does that

A lot of teams actually don't, or they make insurance trades for practically no assets.

In fact, more teams that make it to the finals either make no moves, or very minor moves that had very little to do with their run, than making huge deals.

We should not be making any kind of major move at the deadline. We can't afford to add someone with term, because we don't have the cap space right now, and we shouldn't be making rental moves because there are few that would improve our team or our chances at winning the Cup, and even fewer that are worth the price to do so.

No rentals please. They very rarely provide noticeable value. Prospect pool is also not looking too great. Leafs need cheap young players on ELCs over the next 3-4 years.

No. We still haven’t won a round yet. Do that first and prove you can go on a run before spending on pieces to get you over the hump.

Is there statistics out their with teams who won the cup having a rental player on their team? The whole idea of forking out a 1st for a rental still boggles my mind.
