Not an expert, just based on looking at numbers and asking my gut, but I feel like Stolarz would be a great fit. It's always worthwhile taking a look at what's available. Looking at the UFA market there are a bunch I think might be an improvement over Halak as a backup. A couple like Adin Hill or Alex Lyon might cost more than Halak does now which would effectively put them out of the affordable range. Here's a few that might be interesting who likely would be affordable---Alex Nedeljkovic is going to take a much cheaper deal to prove himself again. Laurent Brossoit om Vegas. Anthony Stolarz big goalie playing for a bad Anaheim team. Hunter Shepard--yet to play an NHL game but he's put impressive numbers in Hershey the last couple and Hershey's become a top AHL in the meantime. Jonas Johansson in Colorado--not much NHL time this year but again impressive numbers in the AHL. Both AHL goalies are 27.

Yeah. I do suspect Stolarz looks for a spot where he has a better chance to start or at least play more. And he’ll probably be a little more expensive than Halak. I feel like Halak comes back on a cheap incentive-laden deal.Stolarz will be 30 next year. He's huge but it's also not like the Rangers haven't shown some interest in very big goalies as in recent draftees Ollas and Boyko. Stolarz also grew up I believe in the NYC metropolitan area. That might be another reason for thinking about someone like him.
Talbot would be another good option. He’s basically Halak three years ago.Cam Talbot turning 36 in the summer, crap, time goes fast.
