Should David Quinn be fired?

I just don’t think Quinn is an X’s and O’s type of guy. Which is pretty apparent at this point.

From my point of view, there are evident problems with the system he runs. We rely heavily on our defense to be involved in the offensive zone to take pressure off of the forwards so they can move around.

It was why we were bounced so quick in the playoffs because there is less time and space for the defense at the point (other team’s forwards with heavy pressure on the points). That means that the D has to either shoot quick with traffic in front to get deflections, or, they have to send it down low. The team is not built to be a cycle team. I always notice we have one forward going in on the forecheck but he’s either two seconds behind or we need another forward to support him. They are always a second late.

I think that Quinn’s system relies too heavily on the defense being the catalyst. The fact of the matter is that the playoffs are not good for that type of system. Especially when there’s no time and space and some of the players have their heads up their asses.

We got bounced because the team literally had nobody useful in the bottom 6 and the top players were pretty useless. Just wasn't our year at all

Not saying that isn’t the case, but that doesn’t mean what I said can’t be true at the same time. A lot of people here are saying Quinn can learn and will make changes as he’s new at this. Okay, let’s see it. I will gladly admit if that is the case. But, his track record of stubbornness doesn’t give me great faith for the sudden change in character that everyone seems to be expecting. Insanity is trying the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Time will tell.

Like I said..Just look at the Fish Sticks.

They have a team full of misfits and are taking the Caps and (OV) to the brink of elimination and it's all for one simple reason.

They all buy into a cohesive system!

There's nothing special about their roster.

They just have a smart GM and great coach.

That's all folks....
