This is the correct answer right here! Hockey has gotten way too soft already! One death in like 100 years from an obscure league hardly seems like it should make them required.
One death is all it takes to bring about change bud. This has also happened in NHL multiple times but lucky it was not as forceful as the Adam Johnson incident where the player literally kicked the victims neck. One death in like 100 years from an obscure league hardly seems like it should make them required.
Clint Malarchuk and Richard Zednik might say otherwise. It's not unique to that "obscure league." It's happened in the NHL, just nobody has died (thankfully). That doesn't mean it won't happen again. One death in like 100 years from an obscure league hardly seems like it should make them required.
It's not about being soft buddy. This is NHL trying to protect its players and also preventing lawsuits against NHL for lack of protection. This is the correct answer right here! Hockey has gotten way too soft already!
lmao. yeah it's so soft to want to protect your neck/life from being cut when you play a game where everyone wears knives on their feet and crash into each other. C'mon. the "too soft" argument is tired and invalid. This is the correct answer right here! Hockey has gotten way too soft already!
So, full face shield/cage?Anything that kids have to wear as protective equipment should be mandatory for adults as well.
I don’t get the distinction and it sets a bad example.
*very preventable death
Also no fighting. So, full face shield/cage?
This is going to be the argument that leads to them adopting it the same way visors were adopted, would be my guess.Honestly I hated wearing them when I played and it was required, they were annoying and uncomfortable. The recent death was extremely tragic and yes a neckguard would prevent it, but it's also one accident out of millions and millions of hockey games over the years (yes I know there have been other bad injuries from skate blades to neck but all the others recovered I believe). I think it should be left up to the players if they want to or not.
One death is the same reason why we have netting behind the goalies now. It was one death too many. One death in like 100 years from an obscure league hardly seems like it should make them required.
I mean, if the league tells you you should wear one and you don't by your own choice... They shouldn't be able to sue lol.Of course the NHL is strongly recommending it - that way if the NHLPA declines, and a serious injury (or death) occurs, it'd be pretty hard for the player/family to sue the league.
