Should Groulx be the head coach of Canada if we want to get back to the gold, I mean the Quebec league isn't known for it's good coaching and his team is having a poor season, do we really want him as the guy to lead us back to glory, what was HC thinking when they made this decision?

^ You do know that just saying he's a great coach isn't going to cut it right, you do know he's never won anything as a coach right, so I don't know how that makes him great, he's been coaching and managing juniors for a very long time.

Quebec League is known for his poor coaching... Claude Julien
Ted Nolan
Bob Hartley
Patrick Roy
Gerard Gallant
Michel Therrien
Alain Vigneault....
and Pat Birns, Guy Boucher, etc

I didn't say that their past wasn't good, I'm talking about now, for some reason the coaching there isn't as good as it once ones, the structure isn't there, it's all like run and gun now mostly, like probably Val D'or's coach is better than Groulx, jury is still out on Roy.

Well he was named coach of the year once and won the President's Trophy in the Q three times. You do know he has won before, right?

As opposed to the unreal success the coaches from other leagues have had as of late right?

Yes, but why pick him over winning teams if the point is to win, like I would rather have Val D'ors coach, you can't expect to win something big with someone who doesn't know how to.

This might come as a surprise to you considering this silly post but the Q won 3 of the last 5 memorial Cups. You think they won them with no structure?

You do know that teams sometimes have to rebuild for a couple years in juniors right? This isn't the NHL where you have players for a long time.

Yeah, the maritime teams did, they are the ones with the decent coaches, whereas the Quebec teams, not so much.

I'd rather see 1 permanent coach hired for the U20 team. If the gold medal drought continues this year and into the next few years (high probability) then HC is going to have to look at radical changes to the POE.

Yeah... not sure if trolling or not but please explain us why you are a QC coach specialist?

You think Ducharme chose Halifax because the maritimes team where better? How about Shawinigan and Val d'Or, do they also have awful coaches?

There is 6 teams in the maritimes, 2 are dead last in the league, 4 of the 6 teams are in the bottom 6.

I'm going to give Groulx the benefit of the doubt for now but if we don't medal this year it may be time to look for another coach.

Teams in the QMJHL don't have to rebuild? What?

At this point I can't tell if you're trolling or just have no idea what you're talking about.

The don't really rebuild there, just retool, they make loan trades there instead of traditional ones, so it's much easier to improve the team.

It was picked prior to the season. This is a horrible thread.
