Yay. Brace yourself, Bruce Boudreau is coming.

Edit: I finally got my kids to watch the "original" TMNT series from the 1980s and they liked it, so thanks, Leo. (My son's name is Raphael, so he oughta get his shit together and like the Turtles)

Edit 2: He 'll be the Duck's first-round selection in 2039, so keep an eye on him.

Of course.

Everyone that posts here knows my opinion on him. I was skeptical in the beginning when an unknown ROOKIE coach was going to be taking the reigns. I guess he has some sort of track record of developing players, but I think I'm realizing its more along the lines of: 'play my way or don't at all'.

His post game interviews are top quality. "I don't know" and "I'm not sure why this happens" is a real common theme with him. He can dive into the intricacies of the game all he wants, but he actually doesn't have any answers when it's game time. To me, there is a sort of arrogance with his demeanor. Then, he'll throw the players under the bus.

I mean, I honestly wonder what the vibe is like in the locker room. Nothing is working tactically. Players look dejected. These leaders like: Gudas, Strome, and others I don't think care either.

Yeah. I was willing to give him another season but I think it will do more damage by waiting. I know it’s only 13 games in but they look worse much worse. Can’t let this continue for another 70ish games .

Plus those comments from players ? They are lost dude.

I’m saying yes, but we’re dangerously close to being Buffalo or Edmonton prior to getting the modern Gretzky if we keep cycling through coaches with no substantial improvement.

there's no excuse for the development of nearly every young talent on the team to stall since he took over. that can't be a coincidence

a good coach brings the best out of his players and cronin has done the opposite

i wouldn't be opposed to firing him now to save these guys

Into the sun.

Giving a coach until the end of the season because the team wasn't really expected to have a good record makes sense in some situations. This isn't one of them. This is maybe the most critical part of the rebuild. We were assured that things should be better after one whole year of Drinking Through the Firehose; things are worse. It's not like there was a huge roster rework in the offseason to explain the total lack of cohesion. Even if the system were being implemented flawlessly it doesn't look like a system that would fit this roster.

And then he gets up and goes "I didn't play at this level, I wasn't a scorer in college" as if that should excuse him for not having answers about the offense. As if he hasn't been working in hockey for longer than any of his roster has been alive. It's a joke.

He's Randy Carlyle without the ability to make adjustments, coaching a group of players that were not assembled to play the only style he's apparently capable of coaching. I'll be happy when he's gone and I want somebody that has actually established themselves as a competent NHL coach to be hired.

He's Randy Carlyle without the ability to make adjustments, the NHL playing pedigree, or any kind of track record of winning. Cronin isn't fit to carry Carlyle's jock strap.

We should have known better then to hire one of Carlyle’s old assistants.

It’s too bad because in offseason interviews he sounds brilliant and I can even excuse a few I don’t knows but at this point the issue should be at the learning to execute stage - not the identifying issues stage

players who have played at an acceptable level this year under Cronin:

Dostal
Terry
Dumoulin
Johnston (lol)

there are a few others that I could conditionally say have played at an acceptable level but pretty much everyone on this team is significantly underperforming.

None of Zegras, McTavish, Carlsson, Mintyukov, Zellweger, Gauthier, Luneau or Lacombe have thrived. And I would argue all have displayed varying levels of underperformance.

The team cant afford to have the youths development stunted. I would normally wait for end of season to say a coach should be fired but even young/bad teams typically see some young talents performing well to instill hope. The Ducks had Zegras in 22-23. Or look at the Canadiens this year, with Suzuki, Caufild and Slaf all playing well enough.

Carlyle, the coach that was handed the best and most stacked teams in Ducks history...

Definitely need a new coach. This system or whatever you want to call it just isn't working. Stop the man on man D, release the players' creativity.

And ?
Many coaches haven't won with stacked teams. Obviously I'm not calling for a Carlyle return but the fact he even gets hate is beyond pathetic and comical. He likes a physical style hockey and players so of course our anti fighting fanbase hates him.

I don't know that it matters because I just can't see him being fired before the end of the season.

I said I'd give him to the new year. The product on the ice is ass, so it's tough to be patient. But I'll stick with that. Would I fire him now if it were up to me? Yes. But I'll try to retain some hope for the next month and a half.

I know we all hate the "I don't know" or broken record comments, but Cronins interviews are actually pretty good imo. He talks about the game on a strategic level, he speaks well of his players and trys not to directly call anyone specific out in most cases. It's honestly a bit refreshing. At the end of the day I feel this is more of a roster construction issue. I do think Cronin is trying to implement a system of a round hole and was given a square peg and he is unable to adapt to the team he has and not the team he needs.

it’s not just here because twitter is far worse, but I can’t believe how much hate Carlyle gets. Just like an abject unwillingness to recognize basically anything positive that he did.

But yeah, I think we need to move on from Cronin but pat probably won’t until after the season, unless we only have like 30 points at the all star break
