Should Cronin be Fired?

It must be nice to be at the helm of the worst offense in the league basically for the 2nd year in a row and essentially only have to answer to the media - which is very friendly to begin with - at home games.
And your answers are
"I don't know what to tell you, we just didn't capitalize on our chances and the other team did"

At this point it's about Verbeeks ego and he's willing to sabotage his highest draft picks to not admit he got the coach wrong.

Cronin has not shown at any point he is an NHL head coach and all we've seen is regression or lack of progression from most of the guys this thing was to be built around. It's possible a new coach can't save this but the longer it goes it just adds Ls onto your resume Pat

Verbeek doubled down on his full tank mode with his 2022 off-season acquisitions after the Verbeekening. Blamed it on Eakins, but then proceeded to rehaul the blueline with actual physical players with talent. Then tripled down by saying the team was far better last year despite only being one point better than the previous season.

For points, we are doing much better than the previous season. The underlying metrics show we are doing worse offensively and our goalies are propping us up.

As someone who has been laid off four times, I never wish for anyone to lose his/her job. It's humiliating and soul-crushing, and for most of us it portends financial peril. But there are times when its warranted, and this is certainly one. Anyone who watches this team on the regular knows its time for a change (except for Verbeek, evidently).

Agreed, it sucks. It happened to me once too, the amount of rage it induces towards former bosses at random moments is crazy too

At least with an NHL coach, he should be pretty financially well off. It’s different fortunately than the average worker. Cro is about retirement age anyway

I have also been laid off and getting fired as a coach is nothing like it IMO

"Wait, so if I get fired, I still get paid and I don't have to deal with teenagers whining about playing time? Or having to answer stupid questions about why we can't score goals? Huh."

Are we sure Cronin isn't playing 3-D chess here?

I feel like if your answer to the stupid questions is "I don't know", you probably aren't gettin any hard ones after.

Last 3 seasons, goals for per game:

2022-2023: 2.54
2023-2024: 2.48
2024-2025: 2.41

And this is in a high scoring era for the league, where most teams are averaging well over 3 goals per game

I agree with the above post that Verbeek is starting to come off as egotistical the longer this goes on.

We’re worse offensively than last year despite having WAY fewer injuries
Jesus, brutal
