Agreed, DJ.
Probably couldn't bring himself to watch the replay. Why didn't he challenge last night? It was a kicking motion, worth a challenge.
Probably couldn't bring himself to watch the replay.
I thought it was fine myself.
It's the second game of the season and early in the game. If not then, when?I think it was a 50/50 call at best personally. Can’t blame Keefe for passing on challenging it. Not worth the chance of getting a penalty
In a very important playoffs game on a goal that has no chance of being called back even based on the TV replay angleIt's the second game of the season and early in the game. If not then, when?

If you don't think you'll win the challenge shouldn't you save it incase you need it later?well it was the start of the game. I don’t think they would have overturned it but that is def the time you make that kind of 50/50 challenge.
Yet another terrible Coaching display by this guy last night ... Continues to overplay Marner - Mathews ... Marner coming off a 1:30 shift is put out to kill a penalty( 2ND PERIOD ) .... Mathews - Marner line out for 1: 24 shift and draw a penalty then they go 0n to stay on the ice for the entire 2 minute + PP .... Common Keefe this is the NHL !!! Coaching like a Dad coaching his sons ffs.
Who do you think is running the ship?

A playoff series win will be considered a success? With this so called elite core. My, my give me the 80's Leafs back where at least we knew they were bad, but they gave a sh&t. This crap makes me sick.Fantastic regular season performance 1 season in a 6 team division in a 56 game season, the other year it was a alright performance not fantastic
You could have gotten a 6th - 8th seed playoff team having kept secondary supporting pieces like Kadri, Kapanen, Brown, Hyman and letting the star talent go and become a boring defensive styled team
If the playoffs don't change, then the regular season is irrelevant, with the leafs being amongst the greatest disappointments in professional sports history. Don't think there are many teams who would have lost 6 times in the first round with the expectations and high-end talent the leafs have.
Keefe needs to deliver and not get embarassed again. He has to coach the team to a playoff series win
I am not involved in this back and forth, but have just found this debate interesting since I can see pros and cons for D playing their strong side.
How many is "many, many"? I think when there was that big thing about Babcock taking D with the proper handedness to the Olympics there were some statistics to back up that there is a slightly better performance for D playing on their strong side. Having said that, there are exceptions to the rule, but it is a general rule that D play better on their strong side.
Brodie for example I think has probably played his offside for so long he is more comfortable and effective there, and even then when constructing a team I'd obviously take a Muzzin playing RD over a Holl playing RD.
I think it just comes down to giving and receiving passes and potentially board play, and I remember some D talking about how it is easier to defend the rush on their offside, which I am assuming just has to do with your top hand being closer to the boards generally.
