62 wins, 29 losses, 12 overtime losses, .660 pts%

Hopefully he got a raise.
5 playoff wins, 7 playoff losses, and a .417 win% for the playoffs.

Hopefully, he learns he isn't coaching a random suprise wildcard team with no expectations and can deliver some results.

His terrible coaching come playoffs and stubbornness could cost the leafs a 3rd straight series and dubas his job

You know you really have to keep using that stat. That stat means bs playing in North. You could have been aiming at 120 points season and he still should have been fired
You have been given Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner and Nylander. If you can't despite of that get me 100+ points you shouldn't have any ambition of being a coach to begin with

That should be the minimum, not the achievement
I mean this was before the COVID shutdown and he carried the winning ways into last year as well. He has had a stellar career in the OHL and AHL. I'm not sure what you're crying about.

There will be hot takes in here but he’s a good, underrated coach. I know we’re all angry about the playoffs but he’s not responsible for five series losses.

I’ll take the fantastic regular season performance and the vastly improved defense over a handful of bad playoff games.

Fantastic regular season performance 1 season in a 6 team division in a 56 game season, the other year it was a alright performance not fantastic

You could have gotten a 6th - 8th seed playoff team having kept secondary supporting pieces like Kadri, Kapanen, Brown, Hyman and letting the star talent go and become a boring defensive styled team

If the playoffs don't change, then the regular season is irrelevant, with the leafs being amongst the greatest disappointments in professional sports history. Don't think there are many teams who would have lost 6 times in the first round with the expectations and high-end talent the leafs have.

Keefe needs to deliver and not get embarassed again. He has to coach the team to a playoff series win

Beauty.

The coach that turned us instantly from a defensive tire fire to a top notch defensive team - without even hurting the offense one iota.

He'll continue to build on the best winning percentage in leafs history.

There's literally no incentive to do well in this organization. You'll get extended regardless.

They chose not to fire him and Dubas so not surprised he was extended. Dubas will probably be extended as well. Shinny probably convinced the suits that the loss was partly due to losing JT and Muzz. This year it will be sh1t or get off the pot. No more f***ing excuses for this management group.

Do you mean the stubbornness where his team out shot Columbus 33 to 21 in game 5, but a .905 SV% performance by his goalie cost them the series, or do you mean his stubbornness where his team out shot, and out chanced the Habs this year in games 5, 6, and 7, but a .892 SV% performance cost them this one.

He probably means they scored zero goals in game 5 vs CBJ. Add that they all but got shutout in game 7 vs Habs if not for a late meaningless goal by Nylander. Sure our goalies let in some stinkers but if you can't score, you can't win.

Other then the awful PP that he was unable to fix and zero success in 2 post season series including a major collapse in the last one that he was unable to rally the troupes, but ya he has been great

Its mind boggling Dubas isn't gone. Ah well.... Another wasted year of AM I guess. It's really hard to want to watch this team.

His record in 19-20 after taking over from Babcock is pretty remarkable given no training camp and zero goaltending. At least he got half a season of goaltending last year.

I’m not saying the playoffs don’t matter, but I’m saying people are going to overreact because of the team’s history that he’s not responsible for. Like you just brought up the 2013 playoff series, case in point.

As long as the fans keep filling the seats, buying expensive beer and Leaf memorabilia, it pretty much doesn't matter to Leaf management until the fans seriously revolt, which they will if they fail to get past round #1 or sooner if this team turns out to be a fraud during the season.

A goalie is part of the team, and its the coach's job to get the best out of his team. If your arguing Campbell cost us the series with poor play in game 5-7 (ignoring all the bad plays made by the players, including Sandin's 2 giveaway goals, Dermott and galchenyuk's, Marner's giveaway/penalties etc) then I'd say go watch the games again.

We out chanced the habs in-game 5/6 and didn't win. Keefe decided to run back MM+AM duo along with a struggling Hyman, giving them 24 and 25 minutes for the night, with neither being able to convert anything

In 2020, he brought back AJ into the lineup while after months into an elimination game. He decided to go with a super line and had Nylander playing center for one of the few times in the year.

In 2021, he broke up the strong producing 2nd line taking out Galch off the line for Foligno, he brought Sandin in who cost us game 5 for Dermott who we won in game 4.

He was never able to get the PP units working and let the PP coach continue operating the same units with same plays that weren't working. Joe Thornton for some inexplicable reason continued to get PP time despite being very slow and unworthy of the role.

Keefe has been given as good at least as good a defensive core as the contending leafs of the early 2000s were. He has higher high-end talent than any recent previous leaf team, and while the offensive depth has dwindled the team is still built to at least be capable of winning 1 round.

He has played some of the worst playoff teams possible, getting an 18th seeded Montreal, along with a fringe team like the Jackets. He's lost series to offensively inept teams, with the leafs not likely to ever get as easy matchups as they did the past two years which were blown by Keefe and the team

Wait are you now arguing that Dubas has given Keefe a super-elite roster?

He's responsible for the past 2 out 5 series losses. I never included 2013, the 5 losses are WSH, BOS, BOS (Babcock losses), CBJ, MTL.

Losing 6 first rounds in a row would require some sort of major change, so either a core player moved, the coach fired (who was part of 50% of those losses) or a GM (part of 67% of the losses) and President (part of 100% of the losses)

Keefe has had very favorable matchups in the playoffs with the competition not being heavy and the leafs being favorites in both the series. He won't get as soft a matchup this year. He has to deliver playoff results otherwise whatever he does in the regular season loses its shine very quick

No surprise. Extensions means nothing with coaches. They can still be fired at anytime, especially with rich teams.

But this is good for him and his family. Stability is key.

I must admit I saw the term on the deal and had a bit of a chuckle

If this is a sign of the organizations faith in the guy it's not exactly resounding is it?

2 years? They may as well just left it as is because firing him still wouldn't be a hardship financially

but but but....they had more expected goals
