Lambert is one of, if not the most skilled forward of the past draft. Wright's probably has a higher hockey IQ but as far as pure skill it's Lambert all the way. Will this transition to the NHL? Only time will tell. I voted Lambert so it will be interesting because his ceiling is very high but his floor is very low.

Which one you think is better the player, prospect?

Shane Wright or Brad Lambert?

I predict 80% will pick Wright.
Better prospect doesn't mean better potential/ceiling/ability if that's what you're suggesting. It takes everything else into account too - floor, likelihood to succeed, etc.

Wright is obviously the better prospect since he was taken so high (and was considered for 1st for longest time).

Better question might be for you to ask who will be the better player.

One was drafted 4th and one 30th and since then nothing happened, basically. Isn't it obvious who the better prospect is?
Well, Bergeron was drafted 45th and the very next season scored 39 points in 71 games in NHL, outscoring every other player from his draft.

So this argument is flawed. All the GMs could have scouted wrong.

As for a player comparison, Lambert pretty clearly has more technical ability. He's a better skater and a better stickhandler, and not just by a little, either. Wright's overall game's more developed. Lambert's more of a boom or bust type, Wright's safer. But Lambert has tons of potential.

Gotta go with the safe option in Wright here. Has a better overall game than Lambert. I do think that Lambert can become the better player if he figures everything out.

Of course it's flawed, it's all based on projections and guesses. Had we been able to exactly pinpoint the future we wouldn't have a forum like this. Had Lambert been a better prospect he'd been drafted a lot higher but now the people who have this as their job decided that Wright actually was a better prospect while they almost left Lambert out of the first round. Maybe you had them reversed on your ranking though?

But it can't take a handful of preseason games to figure this out. Maybe in a couple years Lambert seems like a steal where he was picked, but it's impossible to tell right now. Bergeron is one of the only players to have a jump like that, that quickly.

I feel like my expectations for Lambert are still strongly tempered by his WJC performance. I need to see some real games before I start to buy this level of hype.

Wright is a surefire NHLer in the future. Lambert is either a Top6 player or a bust. I pick Wright.

Why couldn't Lambert play in the bottom 6? He's got a ton of pace to his game and he's been excellent on the forecheck / backcheck thus far.

He has the skill to play Top6 in the future. I just assume he wants to play Top6 and if he doesnt get there, his head will be a problem. Just my opinion based on his play in Team Finland and his teams here.

I haven't seen any indication that he'd be unwilling to play in a bottom 6 role.

I can see Lambert turning Kuznetsov in his peak/prime, as for Wright he’s about to become a bit smaller Jeff Carter’s second coming. Pretty close overall, but at his peak Kuzy was definitely better
