Shanny was fantastic when he started.
Was unwilling to adjust when he needed to.
Isles will like him

I looked up Lous resume the other day and my god that guy has lived quite the life. Didn't know he worked for the New Jersey Nets at one point while GM of the Devils I believe and is a minority owner of the Yankees. The clean shaved thing he does makes sense after seeing that since they do or had the same rule. The Isles biggest need is to create a modern front office structure - they're stuck in the 90s now because Lou probably liked it that way. Shanahan would probably be good at that part.
LOL at the Pridham comment. If Shanahan is hired, I'm sure he'd at least be interested in Pridham - and could TOR really deny permission if it was a promotion from AGM to GM? But yeah, money counts too. We'll see. Cheers!
Shanahan will probably have the Islanders win long before us if he’s hired.Just because Shanahan failed here doesn't mean he sucks at his job so he's probably not a bad hire for the position. His 1st time in that kind of position I believe and maybe he learned a lot and learns from it. At the end of the day he was loyal to a core that let him down and you can't get too mad at him for that. He hired a young GM to take over for Lou who was supposed to be the next best thing and the funny thing is signing Tavares probably hurt this teams natural rebuild and accelerated it which led to some bad moves afterwards. Then Covid hit and made that accelerated rebuild even worse because the cap didn't rise and now we were stuck with a 11 million dollar contract on a player who was great but not 11 million a year great. Long story short. Don't let people fool you that he's a bad hire because it didn't work out here. We might be upset because this core has failed but Shanahan and even Dubas tbh weren't the main reasons we have 2 series wins in his time here.
Also, the Islanders better not think about Pridham in any way. We won't let him leave.
Yup. It sucks that his contract is just going to expire. He should have been fired even just as a symbolic gesture for the fans.I guess with his contract just being up, Shanacanned doesn’t make much sense. A real missed opportunity.
Yeah, he probably got the shaving thing from the Yankees, specifically George Steinbrenner, who had the same rule. Ironically, the Yankees just recently did away with that rule, and now the Isles will as well - which is good since the Isles kind of started the playoff beards thing.I looked up Lous resume the other day and my god that guy has lived quite the life. I don't think they'd deny it but I also don't know if Pridham would want to be a GM or leave the Toronto area. He probably gets paid as well as most GMs in the league and doesn't have to leave home which I think was a big reason why he accepted a job with the Leafs back then. Idk though, maybe he wants to make that jump but I just feel like he would've been hired by now if he wanted to.

I'm totally speculating about Pridham, and you make good points about living in Toronto, his salary, and whether he even wants to be a GM. We'll see. Or, maybe Treliving goes to POHO and Pridham becomes your GM?
Someone else can confirm, but I think EF (Johnson/Lebrun?) reported/speculated that if Shanahan is gone, his position won't be backfilled and eliminated outright.Yeah, he probably got the shaving thing from the Yankees, specifically George Steinbrenner, who had the same rule. That's exactly what I was thinking is they promote Tre and promote Pridham if they think they'll lose him. Some media have even suggested they promote Tre and hire a new GM and some have said they just go without a POHO. Apparently they have a board meeting tomorrow so we'll most likely get better info tomorrow on the direction they might go in.Yeah, he probably got the shaving thing from the Yankees, specifically George Steinbrenner, who had the same rule. I think they’ll be looking for new blood not just move guys up a little but I guess we should know soon enough. That's exactly what I was thinking is they promote Tre and promote Pridham if they think they'll lose him. Soooo his would-be atom bomb turned out to be the most likely scenario that everybody already expected?CJ wrote today that it's likely going to go unfilled for a while.
They made them who they are today .So just to recap:
The fans are too quiet but also too noisy.
You can't win with these players because they don't have the extra gear when it matters most, but totally would if they played somewhere else.
Players don't want to play here, but also don't want to waive their NMCs to leave.
Our management is a joke, but also highly sought after by the rest of the league.
And that's just the last week! Did I miss anything?
He actually makes $6 million I believeImagine making what is it.. 5 million a year for a job that is completely unnecessary.. living the dream.
