Yesterday I saw a guy run a red light.
Did he not do enough to merit a ticket, or was he just lucky enough not to get caught.

Arguing in bad faith there.
Sports is a result-based business. If you did it, you did it. If you didn't, then you didn't.

And all these reffing excuses are ridiculous. Did we get screwed on some calls? Yeah sure, specifically on the Kampf call (though I will say it is incredibly tough for a referee to read that in real time, Foote sold it well and the stick was in the vicinity)

But guess what? You need to f***ing work through it. Do not fold and use that as an excuse. Come playoff time things go wrong and its up to the team to work through it. Tampa had one of the worst penalties I've ever seen called against them today (McDonagh interference) when they were up 1 late in the third. What did they do? They didn't breakdown, they killed it off and won the game. If we're this new and improved team we need to have the poise to fight through adversity

LOOK WHO IS IN CHARGE. No wonder they are so soft and scared.

can they ever get a power forward or a decent hitter/player thats not almost retired?

oh yeah, they traded Marchment lol.

I agree. The Leafs were not able to match the TB swimming team in terms of dives and embellishment. Keefe should have sent them all to take theatre lessons.

I think your instinct might be right on this one...

But Lou Lam also spent $30 million 6 years of JG Pageau, and $36 million for 6 years of Brock Nelson, and $49 million for 7 years of Anders Lee and $20 million for 4 years of Kyle Palmieri to the tune of $135 million.

And he had to give away Devon Toews for basically nothing to make it all happen. But pre 2005? Give me Lou every day of the week.
Its crazy what some players are making in general. Not just what Dubas handed out, but others as well, hell Holland had too much kool-aid one night and gave Nurse 9.25 is he worth that hell No. Half sure I can live with that.

That I'm a bloody genius, obviously.
I would say that Dubas and Shanahan have no bloody intention of winning but I digress.

We can agree that Toronto did enough on the ice to eliminate Tampa.

The 5 on 3 in game 6.
The pick in game 7.
The general imbalance in penalties.
The amazing saves by Vasi that kept giving more chances to Tampa.

That same team we took to the honest brink just humiliated the Panthers.
I'll be shocked if the series is longer than 5.
Meaning Toronto has more than sufficient talent to make it at least to the East final this year if not for some really unfortunate events and our power play just evaporating.

It's not always doom and gloom people.
Dude. Just stop. Lol.

Hire the absolute best personel available and make winning the priority above all else. The fans deserve better. 55 years....no championships. Not even an appearance in the finals. And here we are listening to the press conferences about how we're close? What the f*** is this?
We actually tried that it was called Burke and Nonis era, where our best we can get executive set our franchise back like 5 years with his first major trade.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

- Einstein
Funny thing is, not only did Einstein never say that, it wouldn't even apply in this context, because:

1. Unlike in some scientific experiments, this is an activity where the exact same inputs CAN result in different outcomes.
2. A different group of players with a different level of experience playing in different combinations and scenarios against different teams is not "the same thing", just because there are some common players maintained. In a scientific context, it would be a very different "experiment".

It’s also stubborn and egotistical.

One of these years they’ll break through and win a round and we’ll get the ‘see we just needed patience’ garbage thrown at us when in reality they’re just wasting the prime years of the best young core the team has ever had.

A rookie President hiring a Rookie GM hiring a Rookie Coach was always a bad idea. This has been proven to be true every off season.

The team has gotten better since Keefe has taken over, he has an excellent record so far and had led the team to a historical season. Playoff success doesn’t happen overnight.

Lol. Couple things here:

1. Tampa had a 6-3 PP advantage that game.
2. The penalty in question wasn't even a bad penalty, let alone "one of the worst penalties ever seen". The Florida player didn't have the puck yet, and that was an insanely dangerous hit.
3. Unlike Toronto, Tampa didn't have a horrible penalty called 10 seconds after that penalty to give Florida a 2 minute 5 on 3. Way, way easier to kill off a normal PP, and not at all comparable to the situation we had.
4. Tampa actually allowed the tying goal on that 5 on 4 PK, and were once again saved by a goal against being disallowed.
5. Unlike Toronto who got no calls on countless infractions in the remaining 30 minutes of their game, Tampa had 2 PPs after that in the final 6:43 of the game to help them close it out.

That is for sure. A new voice is needed to get them over that hump.
