To Chicago:
:hawks
-Spencer Knight
-Mackie Samoskevich
-the rights to Matvei Shuravin

To Florida:
:panthers
-Seth Jones (@50% retention)
-Arvid Soderblom
-Blackhawks 2025 2nd round pick
-Dallas 2025 2nd round pick

Hawks are not retaining $4.75M for 5 years

$1.5-2M at most

What you propose is not realistic nor would Panthers do it

Also, the biggest issue with Jones is his full NMC

I’ll attach Oliver Moore if that helps anyone. The Leafs 1st this year as well. A few other prospects on the table as well.

Extremely difficult to matchup the cap dollars for that much term left. Not sure what Seth was thinking accepting the deal to Chicago with an aging Kane, Toews, Keith, and Seabrook (injured).

Right now sure. It’s gone back and forth. They are pretty close. I’ve preferred jones until this recent stretch so I won’t be surprised if someday I’ll prefer jones again.
If nothing else, Oilers trading a good human being and a close friend of McDavid for a chud that's not known to get along with team mates is going to be a massive loss and face a ton of backlash.

I mean sure. Oilers don’t make that trade. Did someone propose jones for nurse though?

Jones defensive awareness has been so poor lately. Like if you put Benny hill music to his lowlights, of which there have been many since his return, the song wouldn’t be out of place.

I don’t think he is a player that can kill it. He isn’t really that good at anything except skating the puck. Even there he is coughing it up lately.

Would love a retained Jones in Vancouver, just no idea how to make that cap possibly work let alone a return both sides would be comfortable with..

I'm not sure how the cap situations are but Dallas and Carolina seem like the best two fits in terms of team need and destinations Jones would approve of.

Vancouver and Toronto are the other two that come to mind but Jones seems pretty anti-Canada and I don't really blame him

would you bet 9.5 million for 5 more years on that feeling?
Well my team can't. Plus it's the way it goes. The appeal would be buying low on Jones, and full cap hit isn't that. But at 7.5 million, yes.

The Oilers don't have that space though.

Unfortunately for Jones, he’s stuck because of that contract.

Would never happen, but I believe he and the Blackhawks could technically mutually agree to terminate his contract and he'd become a UFA.

That said, I think there's probably a buyer or two interested if Chicago eats ~2.000. That's a lot more realistic.
