Knee jerk reactions to players that went through bad luck and some injuries never work out. Canucks did the same with Tanev, didn't sign him because they wanted a more reliable D man and thought Tanev was too injury prone to be relied upon. What happened was the Canucks became terrible defensively and couldn't find a good defensive d man for the next 4 to 5 years until they traded for Marcus Pettersson who is still no Tanev but can somewhat fill the void. If they trade Demko for next to nothing and he plays 65 games for another team next season, Canucks fans will riot and want Alvin to be fired. It's not worth it to trade Demko and his cap space is not problematic at all.
