Seravalli: Seravalli links Demko to Philly and Tocchet

It makes no sense for the Canucks to move Demko before the start of the season. He is a Vezina level goalie who has had awful injury luck. If he comes back healthy start the year and regains his form from 2 years ago, the Canucks either re-sign him, or trade him for far more value than they will get right now. He is a huge question mark at this stage and his value currently reflects that. Why deal him at his lowest point when there is no rush to do anything?

I called this. Sorry to toot my own horn.

Wonder if Vancouver takes Fedotov back in the deal and then either dumps him later or keeps him all year as a backup to Lankinen until his contract expires. Maybe Philly dumps Fedotov elsewhere (?)

I would be very leery of trading for Thatcher Demko, given his history of knee injuries, including a unique and rare popliteus muscle injury.

Demko just hasn’t been the same since he returned from his latest knee injury.

Thatcher’s injury history has raised questions in Vancouver about his long-term durability and ability to consistently play a full season, hence playing in tandem with Kevin Lankinen instead of taking the reins as the starter.

If I’m Philly I wouldn’t make an offer let alone even consider making him an offer on a contract extension as Demko is damaged goods.

Demko is basically a back up moving forward which is fine for Vancouver.

As a Canuck fan, I have no interest in trading Demko at all, especially not for reduced value.

I would prefer to gamble on him staying healthy and returning to form. I would even be okay with signing him long term this offseason at a bit of a discount rate to double down on that.

Rather just sign Hart.

Can't see offering anything more than a 4th. High risk, high cap, only 1 year left. Definitely not adding Ersson.
Assuming Hart is clear to sign next season, would he even care to sign back with organization that cut ties with him amid this scandal?

If any of those players choose to resume their careers, one would think they'd prefer to start fresh.

Vancouver would be smart to limit his minutes next season and trade him at the deadline. Nobody is going to give anything of significant value this summer with his injury history. But if hes healthy at the deadline teams will be desperate. The Canucks will almost certainly be on the outside of the playoff picture, playing in the tougher western conference and if Boeser walks having no 1st line forwards

Canucks trading Demko anywhere will be not be value their fans want. He is too risky to other teams.

"What would it cost Philly to snag Demko this off-season" is where you're already a bit on the wrong side. He isn't some hero, looking like a cap dump / LTIR. I'm guessing OP and other canucks fans will be pissed about offers and want more, no one will want to offer anything due to his health.
Say it louder, I just read a trade proposal of Kent Johnson + a third for Demko and “maybe throw in Olivier too” because “Columbus needs better goaltending”

Demko at the end of season media day a month ago:

“I’ve always wanted to be a Canuck. Since day one I’ve wanted to be here. I was drafted here. I’d like to get an extension done and stay here. That’s something that Patrik [Allvin] and my agent will start talking about.”

Is Seravalli stupid?

One thing everyone needs to understand is this. PA wouldn't trade Boeser for a lackluster offer at the TDL, he preferred to keep him as an own rental, despite being out of the playoff picture at the time. do you really think he will be willing to trade Demko for pennies on the dollar, rather than keep him for 1 year and let him walk?

If all the Canucks can get is a 2nd for Demko, you keep him. He is a top tier goalie, why dump him for a 2nd rounder. It needs to be a hockey trade that helps our top 6

Nothing against Demko, but I’d prefer the Flyers not make any major move at G this season. Be bad for one more year, hope for some good lotto luck, and then try to fill the big holes next offseason after one more high draft pick (hopefully McKenna, but we all know that sort of thing doesn’t happen for the Flyers, we have to luck into a Lindros situation to get a 1OA worth a damn.)

He WAS a top tier goalie. Now he's a regular resident of LTIR island and has a funky injury that's never been seen in the NHL before

They need assets to acquire a center which is the bigger need.

Frank wonders if a Demko trade to Philly is a possibility. He says Demko is very loyal to Tochett.

Demko battled injury last year but is set to have a healthy off-season in which he can fully train. When healthy we all know that Demko is a Vezina caliber goalie.

The 29 yr old Demko will be making 5mil AAV this year which is his final year of his contract. He is set to be a UFA next summer.

Canucks have signed Lankinen to a long term deal. Arturs Silovs is also dominating the AHL playoffs and are leading the Abby Canucks to the Conference Finals which starts on Thursday. Silovs has a .936 save% and a 1.73 GAA.

What would it cost Philly to snag Demko this off-season. Canucks arent exactly interested in picks and prospects unless they can immidiately flip it for roster ready help. C and Wing is their biggest needs.

Not interested to trading Demko at all since I still don't fully trust Lankinen or Silovs
